Shelby & Rhythm Express

Memories Of Elvis Tribute Show - Mike Shelby & Rhythm Express with The Divine Inspirations

Saturday night saw one of the best bands I have ever seen at Billing, or for a few other places I should say! We had Mike Shelby and  Rhythm Express with the Divine Inspirations and they were fantastic! One of the most realistic Elvis tributes I have ever seen.
These guys were amazing with all sorts of costume changes and a 2 and a half hour set, i'm not an Elvis fan, I will admit that to everyone but I really enjoyed this it was superbly staged and performed!

Well we've been saying we'd like to see one of Mike's shows for a while now & last night we finally did.
The venue was The Museum, Oakham, Rutland & Mike & the band were a little concerned shall we say when sound wasn't going too well in rehearsal but they needn't have worried because it sounded great.

As always we go to shows not expecting a lot then we don't get disappointed but I have to say the whole show from start to finish was fantastic....

Mike, the band (Rhythm Express) & backing singer (Sam Sillet) were on top form & work very well together. And to say the backing singer was only brought in at short notice, she did a brilliant job.

During the first spot (68' Comeback) Mike had three costume changes:

1. Leathers WooHoo.... Wink
2. Gold Lame jacket
3. White Suit (If I Can Dream)
During the changes Sam filled in with 3 songs & was great, she has a lovely voice.

Lots of well known songs in this spot along with one or two not so well known & Mike sang them great.

30 min interval & time for a chat & the crowd all had good things to say Smile

Second spot & Mike comes out looking good in his Concho Suit to do the Vegas yrs..... Mike seemed a lot more relaxed & once again the audience love every second of it especially when it came to handing out scarves, the ladies were shouting out which colour they wanted... lol! unfortunately not enough scarves for everyone but Mike made up for that with kisses Wink but he did have to sit for a while to rest....but the woman didn't mind at all hehehehe

Mike ended this spot & the show with American Trilogy & 2 or 3 encores. I have to say that I thought the American flag unfurling during American Trilogy was a very nice touch. Mike then left the stage to a standing ovation which he wholly deserved.

Mike Shelby gives a Respectful & Heartfelt Tribute to Elvis & never once came across as being nothing more that a True Elvis Fan & I for one respect Mike for this & will most definitely be seeing more of his shows.

Thanks Mike, Rick (Tutt), Rhythm Express & Sam for a fantastic night you all deserve a Big Congratulations & well deserved pat on the back Smile

See you all again soon  - Kaz (Dewsbury)
