Introduction

Welcome to 101 Random Ramblings & Poems. This edition in my collection of poetry is very dear to me. I wrote most of it during some trying times in my life. The frustrations of raising kids, being a wife, a woman, and an individual in this crazy world. This writing has helped to get me through. To just be able to scream, to vent. Sometimes we need to do that in our lives. It's amazing how much better we feel after we do.

For me it seems to be theraputic. Definitely cheaper than a psychiatrist!

My thoughts and feelings are very true and raw. I describe this book as dark and depressing, but not so depressing that it shouldn't be read, but that it should be read because of it. I believe that many who read this will see themselves in my words.

I have gone through many years of untreated depression, feelings of unworthiness, and just the feeling that I was alone. Within these words you will feel my pain, my sorrows. But rest assured that this darkness has left my world. My life is so much brighter now. One must walk through several dark rooms before finding the light. But we do find it!

I am Rhonda Moats, and these are my 101 Random Ramblings & Poems.

There is a very old saying that states, What does not break you makes you stronger.  Rhonda Moats, author of 101 Random Ramblings & Poems, gives us a personal and up close look of what life is like, in-between.  As you read her poems, you will be moved so deeply that you feel as though she has read your mind and put your thoughts on paper.  There is a poem for everyone in this well written book of raw poetry. Lets be honest, everyone experience ups and downs during their life.  This is a fact, a guarantee of life.  How we choose to deal with the bad times, ultimately determines how and if we will survive.  Rhonda Moats deals with the pain and frustration in her life by venting and screaming on paper, in an unselfish manner for others to benefit from.  Most important, she conquers her demons, and in the end, becomes stronger as a result. This is a must read and should be read by everyone.  In doing so, you will find out that you are not alone, your frustrations are real, and you can and will overcome them. I picked up this book and could not put it down until I finished it.  It is a 5 star book and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Rhonda Moats, 101 Random Ramblings and Poems, is a well written expression of the sorrows and tribulations the author has experienced. Both introspective and reflective, Moats, with mere words, has looked out at the world around her and with an intensely personal vision and precise expression, created a book of extreme emotion that will touch her readers with the ins and outs of her reality.

On many levels, Im sure each reader will association with one or more of the feelings voiced within the pages of, 101 Random Ramblings and Poems.

“101 Random Ramblings and Poems” was written by Rhonda Moats with an eagerness and passion so astonishing that I found myself holding my breath to get to the end of each poem.  It isn’t every day you find such an uncommon collection of poetry, with a uniqueness that has yet to be written.  Her words are not just read in a low murmur in your head or from your lips, but cried out in a hopeless desperation of grief, heartache and a distinguishable sorrow.  Moats addresses a wide assortment of emotions that are universally perceived yet not always discussed as they are in this compelling book of accumulated ramblings and poems.

Her poem “You’re Not Worth It” speaks motivation to all women with words that I can’t even begin to chose one line to quote because it was such an awesomely powerful poem.  A poem of a woman who stands strong with an undeniable confidence even after the man she loves has ran away “like a baby, a little child.”

Moats chose words that make my insides squirm with reciprocal anger, a mutual loneliness and yet soothes my heart with peace because I realize now that all these emotions are known to every beating heart and every aching soul.  Her words show prevailing sadness in which all can empathize and relate to.  She brings inspiration to the fact that she “found her light” after stumbling though “several dark rooms”.  The phrase that struck closest to my heart and will be remembered because her words shall never perish, saying that the words  “ ‘I Love You’ can be the life of us, or the death of us.”

This is an honest, thought provoking and inspirational book filled with a depth of melancholy that not only makes my heart ache, but makes it soar as well.  At the risk of sounding cliché, I highly recommend this book and give it two thumbs up.

In her work, Ms. Moats made me want to shout out to every man (who is a man) to read this and learn something about being kind, loving, thoughtful and there for his wife.  Learn something about how you are (might be), and by that learn how you should be.  I want to grab children by the arms and force them to listen—to respect and love their mothers.  A child’s harsh words, disrespect, bad decisions about behavior—will all be regretted one day—and you, child, must understand that fact!  I want to be a better man than I am.

In her straightforward psychological assemblage of verse, the author has revealed a woman’s innermost thoughts, stresses, hurts and reaches out for tenderness and compassion.  The book makes one want to embrace the author and tell her everything will be alright—and mean it.  Because if it’s not a sincere promise, a truth, she’ll know.  In her contemporary collection of dramatic poetry, Ms. Moats uses sometimes short, cryptic words to express the deepest and sometimes darkest thoughts and feelings.  It’s about losing love; it’s about the serene sanctum of one’s mind; it’s about honesty, disappointment, pleading for a little time, a little love.  There’s hope and prayer to lift the reader from a world of sadness, utter sadness to a place where it can be replaced with laughter, happiness, peace, something better, something that will take pain away.

            “Mend the heart

            Stubborn minds created the pain

            Forgiveness is at hand

            Forget the past

            Rejoin us now.”

Some of the works are like a song written with a solid, certain vitality and often biting message.  Sometimes I sensed a kind of warning to think better and be a better human being.  The alternative is to be shut out, left or fairly defined as a jerk.  The passages are a good lesson for a man and nearly grown children—to live better (and enjoy life) than he would if he were to be or remain insensitive, selfish, cold.  A man must treasure his wife.  After all, she agreed to enter life with you—and that’s everything.  Children must treasure their mothers and fathers—they love and try to the best of their ability and knowledge.

“What? Do you think you are special?

Do you think you hold all the clues?

Don’t you know we’re all alike?

Don’t you know we must all pay the dues?

Do you not know that it never ends?

Do you know that it’s an eternal quest?

Do you know that you’re no better?

And must also go through life’s tests?”

Ms. Moats writes with power and is able to use brevity to make a point.  There are her impressions and heartbreak over 9-11 gifted to the reader as a confirmation of how many of us felt at the time.  She skillfully talks to the reader through the words chosen easy to understand and to the point.  In every poem and in her essay, there is a compelling vitality—a force, an energy that is expended as many of us might.  Several poems I can visualize as being the _expression of a fine mind fast at work—you know, the times when we let ourselves just “go.”  101 Random Ramblings & Poems takes you inside and shakes you.

I very much recommend this book; sadly I believe much of it mirrors the experience of many women and maybe as many men.  It is an experience throughout and will cause you to think, really think about what you’re doing, what you are and who misses you.
