ABOUT R.H.A.F.

As we walk through this life worried about our problems and whether or not we will make the right decisions for ourselves, there is a life that will be unable to worry and unable to make a decision.  It won't have the right to choose it's future.  Will I eat today?  Will I be loved?  Will I have medicine when I am sick?  When I stumble will I have my feet trimmed?  When the pain of life is too much and my body fails, will you end my suffering?  Make the choice to help with these decisions!!  Share the pain and responsibility for these creatures.  You must choose for them.  Give them a voice that can be heard from every pasture and farm in need of help.  The choice is yours.

WHAT IS R.H.A.F.?

Ripley’s Horse Aid Foundation is a 501-C-3 charity that focuses on neglect prevention for equines. Developing innovated programs, the foundation works in cooperation with Animal Control Officers, quality care equine rescue facilities and the horse owner. Ripley's H.A.F. is not a rescue, it provides short term heathcare to owners.

Ripley’s Horse Aid Foundation mission statement:
The corporation is organized for the charitable and educational purposes of aiding existing Equine Rescue Facilities. It is our hope that through public education, public awareness and fundraising efforts an equine once rescued from harm will not be in harm’s way again.
Goals:
Neglect prevention by working independently as well as in cooperation with Animal Control Agencies, Rescue Facilities and equine owners thus reducing the need for an equine to be rescued due to lack of care.
1) To find and implement programs that assist Animal Control Agencies and help owners understand the care needed for the well being of their equines.
2) To develop and distribute educational information on the necessary health care needed for equines.
3) To have neglect prevention programs that do not cause financial drains on the rescue/rehabilitation facilities that the equine community depend on.
4) To be able to assist equine rescues through public awareness and as an emergency resource for feed.
5) To find and implement programs that reduce pain and suffering effecting equines in our communities.

WHY ARE WE HERE?

The foundation is here to find new solutions and implement programs that will take up the slack in the safety net for horses (equines). The Ripley’s HAF programs include Skagit County Disaster Relief, Emergency Assistance to Washington State Equine Rescues, “Hay 4 Horses” animal control voucher program and "Cause & Effect" an education booklet on the basic care needed for a healthy equine.

The aesthetic value of a healthy horse grazing or the frolicking of a newborn foal is a joy for all to see when traveling the countryside. However, when pain and suffering befalls these beauties due to neglect it is an avoidable travesty.
