ENGSOC II

Reading the World...and Writing about it

Welcome Letter

                                                     August 25, 2008

Dear Students, Guardians, and Parents:

This year I will be teaching two periods of tenth grade English and one twelfth grade.  The students within each period are super! I met them last week and I am thrilled to say that I was very impressed with their discipline. I hope they shine like this all year long, as I will do my best to service each and every one of you individually to accommodate you accordingly.

I am happy to announce that you are one of these students.  Here I share with you some premature thoughts that I have.

I would like to let you know that as you expect me to give you the best of what I have learned, I expect the willingness from you to accept responsibility in participating in class, submitting assignments, and studying for tests.  Your role within your group is extremely essential.  I hope that you conduct yourself in a professional manner and demonstrate that you are capable of advancing to eleventh grade.

It will be a great year for all of us, I am sure. Every day I will encourage you to want to learn more.  I hope you notice that I am in the classroom for you, and that you are in the classroom for a better tomorrow not only for yourself and your family, but for the world. As the Chinese say, "One World, One Dream," I will help you prepare confidently for a successful You, which in turn will benefit society. In order to do this you should arrange your time in a way so that you can manage breakfast, lunch, dinner, sleep, exercise, family time, and most importantly, study time.

Parents, help your child plan the time within the first weeks. A healthy diet is essential to thrust every one in the family to a positive and successful year. See http://www.angrymoms.org to see how you can help with your child's nutrition because food is the body's fuel; students need energy in the classroom to maintain focus.

                                     Sincerely,

                                              Mrs. Reyes
