Summary

600 Million Stray Dogs is not simply an unusual name. It's an unusual charity, for several good reasons. First, it exists to succeed in achieving one clear goal, nothing less than...

Ending the Number Two Cause of Animal Suffering and Death in the World:

Animal Overpopulation.

Second, ending this problem -- in our lifetime.

Third, also ending the following seven sub-problems:

The world-wide needless death of 55,000 people every year -- people who die after being bitten by stray, diseased dogs infected with rabies. Most are children.

The loss of $2 billion to $8 billion in taxes every year, spent by health departments in the U.S. alone, dealing with this overpopulation problem and its' health hazards.

The world-wide routine violent killing of over one billion wild and domestic animals every year.

Managing eight to nine million dogs and cats who are abandoned each year, and killing the four to five million of them who do not get adopted, in the U.S. alone.

The often barbaric mass killings of hundreds of thousands of stray dogs in other countries each year.

The global daily suffering from hunger, starvation, disease, infections and injuries, of up to 600 million stray dogs -- and of up to 100 million stray cats in the U.S. alone.

Last but not least: Ending the number-one problem of, and the number-one expense of, the world's tens of thousands of non-profit humane societies and animal shelters, and municipal dog pounds.

All of the above, in a single project. How? By being creative, thinking outside the box and expediting the development of long lasting animal birth control pills. Amazingly, the problems above can be ended with the development of pills that last at least six months per dose.

There are over 100 already know birth control pills and injections. Some injections last up to 10 years, and at least one produces permanent sterility with a single dose. As long as 30 years ago, the drug industry has had birth control pills for dogs that last one to seven days. Oddly, they have never "gotten around" to modifying any of those pills to last 180 days (six months). This, we intend to change. For example, did you know that often one pill works for many species?

If this were a foot ball game, it could be said that "We are at the 99 yard line, and we only have one yard to go, to reach victory." Please visit our website to have your many good questions answered and to see in detail 10 major reasons why this project is unique, exciting, and inspiring. Please join us in ending a vast amount of needless suffering,

in our lifetime. There is much to be done and if you wish, you can play an important role in making history.

Sandia Mountain BearWatch is now a decade old. Our mission ten years ago and today is to help ensure a stable bear population in New Mexico. We have never taken an anti-hunting stance but will continue to take a strong stand against poor bear management and unethical hunting practices.

Our Sandia Mountain BearWatch Wildlife Steward program helps inform mountain residents and visitors to bear country how to co-exist with bears along with other wildlife. We have a 600+ membership based in the Sandia and Manzano Mountains that continues to grow statewide.

One of our goals is to work with New Mexico Game and Fish and mountain communities to bear-proof all food related dumpsters and to inform residents how to bear-proof their homes in New Mexico’s bear country. Our approach will be to offer to cost share bear-proofing of food related garbage.

Wildlife conservation is sometimes a difficult undertaking but with a reasonable stance and perseverance, we’ve found that we’ve made an enormous difference for the black bears of New Mexico. We invite you to join us in this endeavor.

Please explore our site for more information about bears, their Sandia mountain habitat, how to live with them and other wildlife, our history, goals and accomplishments, and much more.

Hi, I used to have a Reptile Rescue for many years. I'd like to be a resource for questions & care of Reptiles/amphibians and small exotics. I can also help transport dogs/cats/ anyone occasionally. I find myself continually fostering kittens from feral colonies/abandoned strays, so I have plenty of experience bottle feeding & trouble shooting. I always need help finding forever homes for these precious kids. I wouldn't mind fostering or overnighting critters from time-to-time if needed, as long as they've been tested negative for contagious diseases. I could also help co-ordinate emergency food/supply drives at my office if needed. Territory; anywhere in Berks County, also from Harrisburg to Hamburg PA for transports (can do a northern New Jersey leg in a pinch, can travel to Philadelphia fairly easily too).

The international website of the Party for the Animals.

www.partijvoordedieren.nl

+31 6 26 94 59 00.

We are a Dutch political party whose highest priority is animal welfare and the respectful treatment of animals. In the Netherlands, we are represented in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Provincial States. That is unique: never before has a political party devoted to animal welfare been elected to a national parliament anywhere else in the world.

The Party for the Animals is the fastest growing political party in the Netherlands. We act as a ‘pacemaker’ in the parliament; in other words, we encourage the other political parties to move faster when it comes to animal welfare.

Ever since the establishment of the Party for the Animals, there has been a great deal of interest in the party abroad. That is why we have created this international website, which provides a lot of useful information. Each week Marianne Thieme, the leader of the Party for the Animals, will write a new worldlog about her experiences in politics. This worldlog will not only be available in English, but also in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian.

The Party for the Animals believes that animals should be given the rights that they deserve. Animal interests should no longer continually be subordinated to economic interests. Not just in the Netherlands, but also beyond. We would therefore like to join forces with kindred spirits in other countries. The more animal welfare parties that are set up across the globe, the better.

PORTUGAL

Associação Animais de Rua - Esterilização e Protecção de Animais em Risco

Portugal

Email address: geral@animaisderua.org

Website: www.animaisderua.org

Specialty: The Animais de Rua project's main goal is to neuter and spay stray animals. The over-population of pets worldwide is a reality one cannot afford to ignore: the number of animals in need of a home is far greater than the number of families willing to adopt and take them in, which leads us to the painful reality of so many animals being born and raised in the streets, without access to primary cares such as enough sustenance, healthcare and protection from the harsh environment. Many of the stray animals end up needlessly dying of hunger, illness or abuse. The Animais de Rua project was created to try to ease the suffering of those animals.

 Brief history and achievements:

The Animais de Rua project came to be bit by bit. In 2005, a group of friends got together with the purpose of raising funds to neuter a stray cat colony that lived in very poor and neglected conditions in Oporto city. All the necessary funds were raised and all the cats were neutered and treated for parasites. (You can see pictures from the colony, before and after our intervention, here: http://www.animaisderua.org/esterilizados/gatos/parque_cidade).

The increased quality of life for these animals, previously malnourished and wounded on account of territorial fights and continuous breeding, was now evident in their shiny coats and well-fed figures. This dramatic change made us want to improve the lives of yet more stray animals. Being aware of so many daily cases of litters of cats and puppies being drowned or buried alive, being run over by cars and succumbing to disease, we decided to get busy and create a work-group dedicated to neutering strays and other animals in deficient conditions.

Ideally, the Animais de Rua project shouldn't need to exist. In an ideal world, all pets should have a home and families that protect them from all danger. However, knowing that such dream is still a long way from coming true in Portugal, the Animais de Rua project needs to exist in order to ease the suffering of stray animals. By not allowing them to breed, we can dramatically decrease the number of cats and dogs who may become victims of malnourishment, suffering, hunger and disease. Our work is parallel with, and supplements that of, animal protection associations, which harbor stray cats and dogs and promote their adoption.

The Animais de Rua project does not have a physical space of its own, so we are unable to collect and house stray animals. Our work consists in aiding the capture and neutering of stray animals, which are then returned to their familiar grounds. When we collect animals that are gentle, we try to place them at foster homes (usually, our voluntaries homes) and promote their adoption.

Our aim has always been to provide quality education for all, and we offer a unique approach to learning about and working with dogs.  Each dog is an individual and is at the centre of any work we do.  We examine and deal with the root cause of behaviour and training problems, aiming to promote a holistic approach.

The Zimbabwe Conservation Task force was formed in April 2001 by a group of Zimbabweans, who were desperately concerned about the unacceptable levels of poaching as well as the destruction of the environment due to the break down of law and order in Zimbabwe.
During the “land grab” in Zimbabwe, it was not only agricultural land that was targeted. A large percentage of private game ranches and conservancies have also been confiscated, leaving the wildlife to the mercy of war vets. Several conservancies are now completely devoid of wildlife.

This web site contains:

Evidence of deforestation and the destruction of dry river beds.

The decimation of the fish population in Zimbabwe's rivers and lakes.

Shocking graphic evidence of animals caught in snares and left to rot. Parts of their bodies have been hacked off with pangas, leaving them to die a horrible lingering death, writhing in pain. All the atrocities you are about to see are not for the faint hearted
