Size doesn't matter. No matter how big they are, they still need all the love that we have to offer.

Large Animal Rescue

Farm Sanctuary is the nation's leading farm animal protection organization. Since incorporating in 1986, Farm Sanctuary has worked to expose and stop cruel practices of the "food animal" industry through research and investigations, legal and institutional reforms, public awareness projects, youth education, and direct rescue and refuge efforts. Farm Sanctuary shelters in Watkins Glen, N.Y., and Orland, Calif., provide lifelong care for hundreds of rescued animals, who have become ambassadors for farm animals everywhere by educating visitors about the realities of factory farming.

Animals Rescued:  Pigs...all sizes and breeds.

Description:  The Pig Preserve is the sanctuary arm of The Pig Preserve Association, Inc.  The Pig Preserve Association, our parent organization, also provides education, outreach, rescue and placement services for pigs and pig owners.

The Pig Preserve is a 100-acre tract of land in the Cumberland Mountains of rural north-central TN where rescued pigs of all sizes and breeds are allowed to live out their lives in a safe and natural environment.  At The Pig Preserve, pigs are encouraged to live "natural" lives in social groups of their own choosing.  Unlike more traditional sanctuaries, the pigs at The Pig Preserve roam large areas of deep woods and pastures and have numerous ponds to play in.  They forage, root and graze for a significant amount of their daily food, but they are supplemented each day with an all-natural feed consisting only of whole and cracked grains mixed with sorghum molasses.  Human contact and intervention with the pigs is kept to a minimum and The Preserve is not open to the public.  Every pig is checked every day by the Preserve's caretakers.

Veterinary services are provided by several local vets and by the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine.

The Pig Preserves accepts all breeds of pigs...including farm pigs and potbellied pigs...as funding allows.

Serenity Springs Sanctuary is a non-profit, "no-kill", 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to saving one animal at a time.  The majority of animals in residence are "farm animals".  It is a one-woman operation and there are no paid staff members.

100 % of all donations are allocated for the direct care of the animals.  Most of the animals rescued become life-time residents due to infirmities and physical and behavioral challenges.  The average census is 150 animals at any given time.

I live in Kilimanjaro region in the United Republic of Tanzania, East Africa. I am looking for people or Institutions whereby we can work together in the programme of rescuing and re-introduction of Antelopes in the Simanjiro Plains (Game Reserve) located in Manyara region Tanzania. This place was once full of varieties of Antelopes but due to poaching, agriculture and pastoralism activities the antelopes were disappearing to about 98%. I need to return them and enable them to live harmoniously with people without conflicts. For details please visit my website.
