We are mostly a Cat/Kitten Rescue.
Our mission is to eliminate the surplus animals from being born.
Through this relentless pursuit, we will reach the point of balance between supply and demand. In return, animals will become more valuable and therefore, hopefully, treated with respect.
Our goal is "Pound Prevention" with homes for all.
Spaying and neutering is paramount; with fewer animals in the pounds, fewer must die.
BIRTH PREVENTION = POUND PREVENTION.
Our philosophy is ensuring quality of life to all living creatures, both feral and domestic.
By controlling the reproduction rate of neighborhood strays, we are relieving some of the burden from the county pound, consequently saving money for the local governments and taxpayers. By "cleaning up" the local neighborhoods, HART also helps prevent tom-fighting, spraying and the spread of diseases from the feral and stray animals to family pets. Pet overpopulation is a huge cost to the taxpayers, to the lives of the animals, and to the hearts of the people who care.

We are a purebred cat rescue, but we also handle look-alikes of purebred breeds, as well as recognizable breed mixes.  Every once in a while, we will also have a dog or 2, & we also handle exotic birds from finches to larger parrots, often with behavioral issues.  We post our adoptable pets through www.petadoptionportal.com

We are an organization of foster homes, & do not have a centralized storefront or facility for people to come look at.  We ask that people make an appointment to meet the cat they are interested in adopting, so that we can retrieve it from its foster home & meet the adopter at a convenient central location for both parties.  All of our cats are combo tested negative for felv/fiv, spayed or neutered, given appropriate shots, wormings, etc before placement.  We do not allow any of our cats to be declawed, but we will often have cats available for adoption that were declawed before they came to us.  We do out of state adoptions, but the adopter assumes all shipping related costs.  We do not do long ground transports.  There are too many animals that have escaped or that have disappeared on those types of transports for us to trust our cats to that mode of transportation.  We require that all cats be kept indoors only.  We do not do home checks, but we do vet checks & reference checks as well as rental property checks to ensure the integrity of the adopter.  Since we are a 501c3, we do not give refunds if a cat should not work out in a new home, as the adoption fee is already considered a tax deductible donation as a write off for the adopter.  We will accept the cat back at any time in its life if it cannot stay in its adoptive home.  Adopter assumes costs of returning cat to us.

Feline rescue, including food, shelter, medical services, rehoming and adoption. We are currently developing educational programs for distribution to grade schools in an effort to create a new generation of responsible furparents. We are seeking input from anyone who is interested in contributing.

We also have a proactive program being created for use in our area in an effort to slow the plethora of strays that seems to occur at the end of the summer season when seasonal renters vacate the area. This program will establish a network of concerned caregivers who will oversee the adoption, care and eventual return of all companion animals in an effort to thwart what has been a decade’s long issue in Ocean City and Worcester County, MD. Eventually this program will encompass all property rental agents, the international student center, local business using summer employees and the local governments.

Specialty: Homeless cats in Atlantic County, NJ.  We do not take surrendered pets except under extreme circumstances.

Facilities: We are a rescue organization and a no-kill shelter located on 5 acres of private property.   We have a large heated barn on an 80’ x 88’ stockade fenced area.  All cats are free-roaming within this area except for recuperating kitties and kitties in transition who are temporarily caged.  All rescued cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated; FeLV/FIV tested, and medically treated as necessary.  The rugged individualists who do not want to commune with the other kitties in the barn are free to sleep in “dog” houses scattered about the area and to skulk around in the landscaped area of bushes and trees.  Feral and adoptable cats interact in a surprisingly passive manner.  There is also a separate small heated barn and penned area for FIV-positive kitties, a TNR shed for our trap-neuter-release efforts, and the old barn with penned area which we are temporarily using as an isolation area for kitties who have been exposed to FeLV or FIP.  There are also about 20 enterprising little souls who will not be confined in the “cat corral.”  For these kitties, who roam the area directly around my house, we have outdoor feeding stations and an area known as “Hobo Row,” which consists of an assortment of discarded “dog” houses filled with straw.  For them, we also had to invest in a $4000 850-foot fence down one side of the property to keep the cat-hating neighbor happy. We have 10 volunteers who clean the barn and provide TLC to our little charges.  We have several concerns and areas of challenge:

 1.   Adoption rates have dropped even as stray populations have exploded despite massive TNR efforts.

2.       We need some really good fool-proof trapping methods for the cats who steadfastly refuse to go into standard humane traps and homemade drop traps.  Is anyone developing a rapid-release dart gun?  Or a remote-controlled trap?

3.       Our main health concern is feline diarrhea, caused in part by constantly revolving food brands, some of questionable quality.  Another cause is constant exposure to parasites due to the outdoor environment.  We do “Strongid parties” once a month (Strongid mixed in with canned food and served trough-style in aluminum lasagna pans.)  We need other suggestions.

4.       How do we get more vets on board with providing low-cost spay/neuter programs?

Tabby's Place is a cage-free sanctuary that provides refuge to cats in hopeless situations. Our residents come primarily from public shelters where they had once been scheduled for euthanasia.

This one-of-a-kind facility serves as:

·         An Adoption Center, finding loving homes for cats;

·         A Hospital, providing medical and surgical treatment for sick or injured residents;

·         A Hospice, providing palliative care and a warm, loving environment for chronically or terminally ill cats to live out their lives in comfort.

Cats with Special Needs

Tabby’s Place does not turn cats away due to age, medical need, or “lack of adoptability.” It is, therefore, a safe haven for several older, chronically ill, or handicapped cats. These cats have special needs such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or blindness. At Tabby’s Place, these cats are able to live full and happy lives with the medical care, love, and affection they deserve.

Unique Features of the Sanctuary:

·         Provides communal living environments for cats, with plenty of horizontal and vertical space for exercise and play.

·         Provides outdoor enclosures for cats to enjoy fresh air and sunlight.

·         Contains special group rooms for cats who are FIV+, overweight, or on prescription diets.

·         Contains an in-house medical facility.

·         Uses specialized materials to facilitate cleaning and encourage a disease-free environment.

Can't adopt? Virtually adopt one of Tabby's Place's special needs kitties for as low as $14/month

Kitten Little Rescue Inc. is a small non-profit (501C3 pending) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned, abandoned and sick kittens in New York City. (Please note that we are not a shelter).

The NYC shelter system is overburdened with abandoned, neglected and stray animals. Due to limited space and manpower and the publics failure to spay or neuter their pets, many of these animals are euthanized. Kittens unable to eat on their own or ill are usually the first to be put down. As a Mayor Alliance member, Kitten Little Rescue works in conjunction with the City shelters to help save some of these unfortunate animals. Most of our kittens are hand raised, making them extremely sociable and affectionate towards people. They are placed in foster homes where they are further socialized and get proper litter box training, while receiving lots of love and attention. Unlike most shelter animals that spend most of their lives in cages, our kittens and cats are only caged on the weekend when being shown for adoption.

We believe proper nutrition is a key to the health and longevity of all living creatures. Our kittens and cats are fed only high quality natural food and use natural, non-chemical filled litter. We are a no-kill organization and our kittens and cats remain with us until adopted to their new, loving forever homes. If an adoption does not work we want and take our animals back. No matter how long it has been or what the reason, they can always come home to Kitten Little Rescue.

If you have questions or problems with this web site, send an email to webadmin@awaninc.org.

A.W.A.N. is a small, yet growing, grass roots rescue group located in Ulster County, "the gateway to the Catskill mountains" at Woodstock, New York.
We have a 20-year history and a 501c (3) status. The heart of our mission is the fostering of cats in A.W.A.N. network homes until loving adoptions can be arranged.
Most of our budget pays vets for spay/neuter, rehabilitation of abused animals, and support of special needs animals.
We encourage no-kill shelters. Sad to say, whenever an area shelter goes no-kill, our modest resources are stretched even thinner, as the rejects are dumped, surrendered to us, or left to starve.
Within the limits of our space and money, we cannot and will not say no to them.
A.W.A.N., in its hands-on way, gives shelter and sanctuary while fighting the ancient battle against cruelty, ignorance, and indifference. Each of us feels the tragedy of not being equipped to do it all. The fact that we can't save every animal who needs us is heart breaking! For all the work of dedicated rescuers, the suffering seems to be increasing. We need help to continue and expand our effort. Every day, more unwanteds are born to lives of horrific neglect and pain. Without more money we have no power to turn this around.

If passion and hard work were enough, we would have solved it already.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Encouraging more members of our community to participate in our foster network and sanctuary program.

Finding boarding accommodations which are less costly than those offered by veterinarians.

Networking to find groups in and near our area which can take on some of the rescues and surrenders.

Making sources of free and affordable spay and neuter known to the public at every opportunity.

Since it is clear that we will continue to be responsible for many elderly and infirm cats for the rest of their lives, and since their vet care mounts up and is specialized, we must look at a way of providing excellent, compassionate care without devoting the bulk of our budget to animals with no hope of adoption. To manage this it would make sense to care for them collectively. "Hospice" is a bittersweet word, one known to many of us in a personal way. What is granted to humans in their last days shouldn't be denied our animal companions.

Providing advice and information to help people avoid surrendering animals or having them euthanized.

We are a network of foster homes covering the GTA (greater Toronto area) We rescue cats and kittens from the streets or other situations. All our cats visit the vet to receive vaccinations, spay/neuter and any other vet care they may need. The health of our cats is very important and we do not compromise at all when it comes to medical care. We then begin the process of finding our cats/kittens the right homes. We have a qualification process, adoption agreement, home visits when possible and follow-up. We are 100% against declawing. We also practice TNR and are in the process of TNRing some colonies in Toronto.

We are just starting out as a feline rescue group, since we do not have one
at all in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, so as a member of the Cat
Advisory Comittee for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, I have begun an
organized feline rescue group due to the high amount of feral cat colonies,
barn cats because we live in an argricultural community, and we are a large
amount of small towns/villages/city that has amalgamated into the
Municipality of Chatham-Kent. We are also looking at having a mass
spay/neuter clinic yearly, or twice yearly. Currently I foster cats on an
occasional basis, but am in contact with a variety of others that do it out
of their home too. The local OSPCA does not foster out cats, and we do not
receive any funding from them, although we are in regular contact and they
attend the Cat Advisory Committee as well and we work with them to find
solutions (no-kill). We are looking for a place that would be able to
accomodate the cats we take in, instead of only being in only homes.
Additional details will become available as we expand our facilities, engage
in fundraising activities and other promotional & educational events, and
increase public awareness. There is a low adoption rate, and high mortality
rate in our rate currently. All rescues are currently paid out of pocket for
shots, spay/neutering, feeding, health care, maintenance, etc... We are
hoping to change that soon.

To neuter stray cat populations with the intention of limiting the numbers of stray cats in and around our local Tarn and Garonne villages and the surrounding areas.

To encourage and help cat owners to have their pet cat neutered.

To care for, and re-home, abandoned cats and kittens.

To provide education on cat health and welfare advice.

To raise funds in order to promote Les amis des chats and the work we do.

The charity is run entirely by volunteers who offer their precious time and energy to help the cats and kittens. This important work needs to continue and expand to ensure the health of both our domestic cats and those unfortunate to be homeless and those living in the wild.

The emergence of the association.

They live on the street, at backyards, scrap yards or industrial sites, or on old farms. Stray Cats - without human help, many of them starve or die of deadly diseases, especially by the high birth rate and encouraged inbreeding.

Not a few of the desolate cats, which we encounter every day, once had a home and were suspended (this is typical of the holiday season), others were in "freedom" was born. They all have one thing in common, however: They need our help!

For this reason emerged in 2000 a small group of friends cats from the area of Kassel, spread over the Internet and had found that the name CAT-CARE said. It further closed, and found out that there are some other operatives in the area was also the sole "abstrampelten And so it finally came, that in January 2001, nine people who already every man for himself in the animal-protection act or cats were joined to the club
"CAT-CARE Animal Aid Association Kassel" there.

This association is funded solely through its membership fees and donations! All revenues come directly benefit the cats. The association is a nonprofit tax of particularly worthy of support and recognition.

What is important to us

The club members, it is at the heart of so many orphan castrate cats as possible so as to the Katzennot, the excessive population and myriad diseases caused by inbreeding are justified. Tame and exposed animals like cats are babies if possible immediately fetched from the street, temporarily placed in care, and then in loving hands conveys.

Therefore CAT-CARE requires a lot of
care because otherwise the animals on the street must remain where they often have no chance. For such care, are therefore urgently sought cats love people who are ready to declare an animal is incorporated in temporarily until a suitable home is found.

Since the club is active and we all have a profession, the welfare work after work in our spare time instead!
We therefore ask you for your understanding that we are not around the clock available to you!

Some years ago our family had the marvelous idea to buy a small “house in the countryside”. Since then we live and feel absolutely well here in Lower Austria.

Although born in the city and used to city life the peace out in the countryside is to be preferred. With need for city air - in half an hour it's possible to be in Vienna. Enabled through the motorway ; -)

Also the attitude of our cats and dogs becomes simpler. The animals enjoy having a garden and a outdoor run. In summer they like to doze in the sun and in winter they constantly invent new games in the snow.

Renovation work is done on a constant basis. Here the stairs to the terrace. These are also used by the cats, because this is a part of the outdoor run.

And: for each helping hand we are grateful.

Room for room is decorated, parquet floor laid and interior furnished.

Here all inhabitants - both 2 and 4 legged - are to feel well.

True to the motto: good things need time we used our spare time to get the renovation keep going.

Where we are today......

In August 2003, we opened our rescue centre after being approved by the district veterinarian.  We have since gone from strength to strength.  Even though we are still a voluntary organisation without regular state funding, we help over 300 cats per year find new and loving homes, in addition to a number of smaller animals.  This year (2008) veterinary surgeon, Kristin Gjerde, joined us and so now we can offer our animals veterinary care onsite, which helps reduce unnecessary stress caused during transport.

The future.....

To continue providing professional care and re-homing of homeless cats and small animals in Bergen.

Encouraging the neutering of cats and providing information on how to care for them and other animals

Supporting and building awareness of animal rights issues

Our cat rescue centre is located in Bergen, Norway.  You can visit us at Jekteviken 5, by the Hurtigruteterminal (express boat terminal) at Nøstet.

We are open to the public Monday to Thursday from 5 pm - 8 pm, and Saturday 1 pm - 4 pm with the exception of public holidays.

We have been operational from our home address for nearly 3 years and in that time have rescued and re-homed near on 500 cats and kittens. We are based in Penistone, a suburb of the city of Sheffield in the UK. We cover the whole South and West Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and into East Cheshire and the Greater Manchester areas of the UK.

We are a voluntary organization consisting of wife and husband team Maureen & Richard Fieldsend. We work closely with local charity Royston Animal Welfare and the RSPCA based in Barnsley and Sheffield. As our name would suggest we deal only with cats.

The Cat Protection Society of NSW Inc is an independent organisation founded in 1958 by a group of cat lovers concerned with the plight of homeless street cats. The Society began a program of low cost desexing to reduce the number of kittens and therefore, the number of cats and kittens abandoned.

Today, the Cat Protection Society is a charitable association with modern premises at 103 Enmore Road Newtown. Facilities include an adoption centre, welfare services, information and products to keep your cat happy and healthy. Sadly, we still have to deal with unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens but with your help and greater community awareness, we can continue to work to improve their lives.

Every cat deserves a loving and responsible home!
