Karnali Intel:

The Karnalian Intelligence Agency (KIA) is the only entity that is charged with the active defence of the Republic and its interests. The KIA is designed to be a very flexible agency which can adapt to change by upgrading itself throughout its lifetime. The KIA always strives to operate with a great degree of integrity and as much transparency as the security situation allows. The capabilities that the KIA has always retained pertain to information gathering, and military operations. The KIA's role is to deter an enemy from moving against the Republic and if necessary to take defensive actions against the invaders. The KIA is the oldest institution in Karnali that is still active today. Reflecting the security situation the KIA has had two major upgrades, with the most recent one taking place in late 2003. The KIA is also willing to cooperate with foreign security forces devoted to peace and justice.

Information Superiority:

Gaining information and analyzing it are the most important aspects of any kind of security. Deep knowledge of the capabilities and intentions of potential adversaries are vital to the protection of the Republic. Information Superiority also involves denying any adversary's ability to gather information which may be used against the Republic. The KIA's policy has always been that of knowing more than our adversaries in order to ensure that our capability to protect ourselves is of a very high level without using aggressive military tactics. The KIA retains excellent human and electronic intelligence assets. It is important to use these forms of intelligence to complement each other by either giving a clearer picture or providing confirmation of security-related information. Electronic Intelligence assets employed by the KIA have constantly been improving in order to work better with a smaller complement of operatives, reflecting the recent security situation of the Republic. The KIA's ultimate goal is to make itself redundant.

Military Operations:

Although the most important aspect of the KIA is information superiority, the KIA also retains military capability to strengthen the effect of intelligence assets. The active use of military assets is highly undesirable and the KIA has fortunately not had to make use of such assets which goes to show that it has been very successful. Their existence may have positively influenced potential adversaries to not act aggresively against the Republic. The KIA's military capabilities are constantly upgraded to ensure its effectiveness, and have recently been organized into a smaller but more modern force called the Agni Force. As the KIA is very careful not to let its weapons get in the wrong hands, the Agni Force is accessible to very few individuals.

History:

The KIA was founded the very day the Republic was founded. It was manned and equipped before any other institution in the Republic which exists today. Throughout its history the KIA's effect on the Republic has not been apparent and this highlights the excellent results the agency has managed to achieve. The KIA has successfully managed to protect the Republic without ever having to harm any entity. Originally the KIA was a very large organization by micronational standards and this stage of the KIA was crucial in its future development as it allowed the KIA to better incorporate various tools that serve to protect the Republic. However, this early KIA had disadvantages too. The main problem was that a lot of operatives, although interested in the KIA, were not equally interested in micronational affairs and it was seen as unnecessary to keep them in Karnali for an extended period of time because the security situation had dramatically improved due to the KIA's early success and other factors within the Republic. Therefore the first upgrade formed a new reservist group which would intervene only when high security states were needed. This reservist group checks in periodically and are fairly well informed of the developments in the KIA. The permanently active KIA operatives were therefore much reduced in numbers after this first upgrade. This did not lower the agency's capabilities however, and this is because of the improvements in tactics and technology to support these operatives. The third KIA upgrade is one designed to better support the Republic in its more active foreign role. The KIA for the first time will be charged with finding information that could be helpful to our allies and friends and not just the Republic. Although the strategic deterrent force still exists, it has been sealed in a more secure and less intrusive fashion in the form of the Agni Force. The Agni Force continues to provide higher level information and military capabilities, and this allows more individuals to be involved in the rest of the KIA. The KIA is looking forward to a bright future and more importantly it is looking forward to totally removing the circumstances that force it to stay in existence.
