EASTERN WATER DRAGONS
PHYSIGNATHUS LESUERII
.jpg)
Semi- aquatic Semi-arboreal sun loving lizards!
Quite often seen basking in the sun in the wild.
Keeping in captivity? They are quite easy to maintain. They feed readily on insects (crickets, roaches, mealworms) and vegies as well as commercially produced dog food.
Best housed outdoors in a large outdoor enclosure if they naturally occur in the area. If being kept indoors we recommend an enclosure at least 130cm long for an adult pair. Branches are required as they love to climb and a water dish large enough to accomodate both dragons at the same time (without water overflowing into the enclosure). A basking light is a must!
Temperature away from basking light should be between 25 - 32 deg. celcius although at the basking site it will of course be higher.
We use Breeder's Choice as substrate.
We feed our lot once a week. Juveniles every 2-3 days.
Below are some photos of our Breeding Colony of 5.
