Welcome and thank you for visiting Reithmayr Acres' website! I'm Ashley Reithmayr and I raise Polish in all the varieties, which are Black, Blue, Broken, Chocolate, Ruby Eyed White, and Blue Eyed White. My 8 year old brother raises Himalayans in Black, Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac. We are a small rabbitry; we can have no more than about 30 rabbits of each breed. So we try to focus on raising quality animals rather than just a quantity of animals. My Polish have done very well since I first got into them, most of them are registered and a couple of them are Grand Champions. My lines mainly come from Maddy Copus and Jeanne Swanson. My brother's Himalayans are also very nice. Just about every animal he owns is registered, many also being Grand Champions. Over the years, he has won several RIS and one or two BIS with his Himalayans. His lines come from Sarah Rascon, Nancy Richmond, and Ron Smelt.

My mom and I on the way to the 2007 ARBA Nationals in Michigan
I'm 16 years old and have been raising rabbits since I was 4. My mom got me started with Mini Rexes, but I also acquired Polish about 4 years ago. I ended up liking the Polish a lot more than the Mini Rex and eventually sold my Mini Rex in order for me to have more space to focus on Polish. I'm glad that I got into raising these guys because I love their personality. When I first started raising Polish, there were only about three breeders here in Washington. Over the past four years, I have seen the number of Polish rabbits and breeders increase tremendously. They are now one of the most popular breeds around and I am glad to have played some part of a role in making that happen.
Another thing I enjoy doing is competing in Royalty. I started competing when I was 9 years old and have learned a lot over the years. I have won several WSRBA Royalty titles; 2 years as Princess, 3 years as Duchess, and I am currently the WSRBA Queen. Washington State's Royalty program is great. It is run by Valerie Uptagrafft, Michelle Uptagrafft-Smith, and Aggie Mowry, along with many volunteers who help run the contests at the WSRBA state convention. I would like to thank them all for the hard work they put into the Royalty program. With the amazing Royalty program comes an amazing amount of support from rabbit breeders in Washington state. Every year at the State Convention banquet, centerpieces donated by statewide rabbit clubs are auctioned off. The money raised from the auction goes into an account that benefits youth going to ARBA Nationals. They usually give scholarships to the top six or so highest scoring Royalty contestants. This scholarship has helped me pay for going to Nationals five times now. Some of my greatest achievements at Nationals have been 2004 Intermediate Breed ID Winner, 2006 Intermediate Breed ID Winner, 2006 Intermediate Judging Winner, and 2006 ARBA Duchess. At Nationals 2007 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I was on the Senior Breed ID Team that won 2nd Place and placed 1st runner up Queen.
I have also been an official ARBA rabbit registrar since November 2006. It's pretty exciting having become one at such a young age; its an accomplishment I'm very proud of. In the next few years, I would also like to become a cavy registrar, and start working towards becoming a rabbit judge.
