What is Reiki?

Most people first encounter Reiki as a form of hands-on healing (originating in Japan in the early 20th Century and brought to the West in the late 1930s).

It is a very simple but powerful method of healing.  All it involves is the practioner placing their hands on the body of the client.  The practioner, by doing so, acts as a channel for energy to be drawn  by the client.  It is  a completely unintrusive  process - no clothes need be removed and no massage/manipulation takes place.

During a Reiki treatment, the client is connected with the energy of the universe and is thus helped to balance mind, body and spirit.  Most recipients report that the process gives them a sense of deep relaxation and inner peace.

Reiki can also be used to treat specific medical conditions to complement conventional medicine. (On no account should you abandon prescribed medication or treatment without consulting your GP.

It is also possible to send Reiki over a distance.

But Reiki is far more than just another complementary therapy.  It  is also a means of self-development and a spiritual discipline based on the five principles set out by Reiki's founder, Mikao Usui.  Going further and learning and practising Reiki has the potential to change your life.
