A Reiki treatment emphasises the first part of the word treatment - it is a treat for you to enjoy.
A full treatment will take about an hour to an hour and a half. You will be asked to lie on a couch, cover yourself with a blanket (if you want to), close your eyes and relax. There may be incense and music in the background to create a calming atmosphere. The practitioner will then place their hands in a sequence of positions on your body (asking you to turn over about half way through).
You will not be asked to remove your clothing and hands will not be placed on any sensitive parts of the body.
How you feel during and after the treatment will be an individual experience - you will feel how you are meant to feel. No two Reiki treatments are the same - even with the same person - so don't get disssapointed if you don't experience what someone else said they did or what you did last time!
Whatever you experience, you will always have had some time out from the stresses of the 'real' (?) world.
As you gain experience of Reiki you will soon learn that you can have a great treatment anytime, anywhere. So if you cant't use a couch, you can have a seated treatment. If you haven't got an hour, take whatever time you can.
Further information on what to expect from a Reiki treatment can be found in my article published on the Healthy Pages web site.
