Lausanne Leadership Event in Budapest The Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (LCWE)
After last year's LCWE Younger Leaders Gathering
in Malaysia, I was invited to be one of 40 younger leaders from the
conference to attend the senior Lausanne leadership event in Budapest,
Hungary. The meeting is being focused on prayerful pursuit of the role
leaders from around the globe can play in world evangelization.
So
far (today is the third day of the Budapest meeting), participants have
been evaluating, discussing and planning strategies to reach the world
of the 21st century with the good news of Jesus Christ. Most agree
that the world today is very different than it was even a generation
ago. New technologies (Internet, multimedia, etc.), more Christians
willing to partner together, growing mission movement out of China,
Africa and South America inspire the global Church to continue its
evangelistic efforts. However, there is also a desperate need to
address some of the world's hard-pressing challanges: AIDS, global
warming, poverty, and many other justice and mercy issues.

Mission in Eastern Europe in Orthodox Context
St Philaret's Christian Orthodox Institute Conference
Rev.
Keith Tungseth (from Seattle, WA) and I were invited to be part of this
Moscow-based conference. This opportunity is actually a follow-up to
the Open Doors to Russia trip
of a few years ago. in January of 2005, we had a chance to meet and
fellowship with a number of Orthodox believers. It was wonderful to
follow that up with participation in this conference, focused on
evangelism and mission in the Russian Orthodox context.
Rev.
Keith Tungesth and I were surprised and encouraged by the warm
reception we received at the conference. Organizers actually
encouraged us to participate in various round table discussions and
share with those present an evangelical point of view on various
issues. In the end of the conference we were offered an invitaiton to
consider further steps of dialogue between Russian Covenant Ministries
and St Philaret's Orthodox Christian Institute.

Teaching at the Orenburg Bible College
Leadership and Christian Administration Course
Saint
Petersburg Christian University has asked me to teach a course at one
of their satellite campuses, in the city of Orenburg. As for the sense
of distance, Orenburg is located just north of Kazakhstan, a mere
52-hour train ride from Saint Petersburg. I had a wonderful
opportunity to teach a course on the practical management and
administration as it relates to the Christian ministry, but also award
students of the Bible college with graduation certificates and gifts.
