Regent Wind Symphony
Objectives:
To nurture students musically, to provide them with a strong foundation in the study of music.
To train students to be leaders.

The band was formed in the year 2001, thus, making the Regent band one of the youngest in the region of Choa Chu Kang, Yew Tee.
Mr. Lim Yean Hwee, was appointed in 2002 as Music Director to the Regent Wind Symphony, and has lead the band into our first SYF in 2003, which we managed to clinch a Silver award. Following up last year, 2005, we yet to bag another Silver award through our hard work. This year, 2007, our band manage to get a Silver award.

Programmes of all sorts were implemented for the band, some of them which are for occasions like charity performances, Community Involvement Projects, and others including our very own concert, Opus II, which was held in December 2004. Here are some of the many other programmes our band offer to our band members:

Sectional practices with professional musicians/tutors are carried out fortnightly on Tuesdays/Saturdays to guild our band members musically. Other sectionals by the section leaders can be carried out either on a non-band day or whenever there are sectionals during band practices, so as to improve the section individually and as a group.

Drills practices are usually carried out mainly by our drills instructors on Saturdays for about an hour. Our aim is to train the band to have discipline among themselves and their peers, and also for displays which we can present to the audience or public as performances.

Exchanges are introduced to the band members from time to time so that they can interact with other band members from other bands in Singapore, or even overseas. Some of the bands which we have had exchanges with before are Bedok North Secondary School, Hougang Secondary School, Choa Chu Kang Secondary School, Raffles Institution, St Joseph's Institution, Presbyterian High School and many more.

An addition to the exchanges are that our band travels overseas yearly, both performances and exchanges. Our very first overseas trip was in June 2004 at Malaysia, KL, where we (with our partner band, Bedok North Symphonic Band, Singapore) interacted with Sri Kembangan School and performed in a combined concert.
Last December in 2005, we (with our partner band, Bedok North Symphonic Band, Singapore) went to Hong Kong for a performance tour. Altogether, we performed and exchanged with HKCWCC, HK Institue Of Education, Citywinds and a few more bands/schools.
This year-end 2007, we will be aiming either for the annual regent wind symphony concert, or for a performance trip to Osaka, Japan.

Last but not least, the band is also involved in camps which are organised by our very own executive committee members almost every school holiday. Camps not only let us have fun, but also aim to gel the members together, promote leadership skills to them and for intensive practices for concerts and performances.
The band also has a combined band leadership "TETRA CAMP' for which selected students from different schools are put together to learn leadership skills and band marching displays prior to the Passing Out Parade for that year.
