2009 INDIANA ON THE FLY

 SHOW RECAP:

A note from Bob Clouser:

"I want to thank all the folks that attended my seminars at the Indiana on the Fly Show, you made it a pleasurable experience.
I wish you all a great fishing season and that your outdoor excursions exceed your dreams. Thanks to all the folks involved in the administration of the show for a job well done. And Patti what a great job on your part (you are like a bee in a bottle). Thanks again, Bob Clouser"

1030 people attended this year's Indiana On The Fly Show at the

Indiana State Fairgrounds. In spite of the winter storm that hit northern Indiana

and Michigan, Hoosiers gathered from all over to come and enjoy this fantastic day

 of fly fishing-wing shooting fun!

Congratulations to our raffle winners:

Gary Hiner was the lucky winner of our Paul Gray "Bronzeback Bomber" print door prize!

John Salb winner of the Orvis fly rod and reel. Wade Malmborg winner of the A3 Scott Rod.

Rick Cockrum winner of the Sugar Creek float trip from Scott Gobel. Miram Riley winner

of the fly tying lesson with Bob Clouser and Don Pendleton winner of fly casting lesson with

Bob Clouser.  Hope you all enjoyed the prizes!

Bob Clouser started the day with a smallmouth presentation that filled the auditorium with eager

fishermen wanting to capture every word Bob Clouser had to say about bronzeback fishing.

He later packed the Casting Arena with 375 observers who watched him effortlessly

cast heavy weighted flies 90 feet. Wide eyed casters took it all in and were ready

to put what they learned to use.

Paul Gray presents Bob Clouser with one of the special edition of  "The Bronze Bomber"

which was especially created for "Indiana On The Fly" 2009. The clouser minnow framed in

these prints are hand tied and autographed by Bob Clouser.

Indiana On The Fly Learning Center was a big hit with Purdue University Entomology Department

combining efforts with match the hatch specialist Ian Anderson.  Also in the learning center anglers

found information on Indiana's invasive species from Indiana DNR specialist Doug Keller and

educational director Amanda.

Our colonial angler Ken Langell delighted young and old alike with his knowledge and

wonderful display of home grown bamboo, hand forged hooks, hand woven fly line made of

horsehair and more!

Specialized fly tyers were strategically stationed to inform and educate attendees on

effective fly patterns to fish and tie. Bob Clouser demonstrated his fly tying technique

and offered tips and suggestions to tying his flies with ease.

Also drawing a crowd were featured fly tyers:

Kevin Feenstra, Bear Andrews, and Greg Senyo!

Indiana On The Fly Art Contest:

Winners of the art contest are:

Gavin McClure winner of rod and reel combo donated by Flymasters

Ekta Pandey winner of Fly tying kit donated by Gander Mountain, Castleton.

Fly Fishing Camper by Doug Miller!

Indiana On The Fly strongly supports, promotes and encourages women

in the outdoors. Misako Ishimura led a workshop specifically for women

and with her small stature proved that fly fishing is not a sport of  muscle strength but

rather one of technique. Barb Simpson of Casting For Recovery also spoke

of the wonderful support CFR is providing so many Indiana women with breast cancer.

The Gear Show is an "Indiana On The Fly" tradition

featuring newest clothing, gear and tackle available from

our merchants.

We wish all of you a fantastic year of fly fishing and wing shooting adventure!

Special thanks to all our exhibitors and attendees and we look forward to seeing you

 January 9, 2010!
