In this tutorial i will show you this how to create this.I am sure that if you get creative with this you can create something better.

Open the gimp up and click File>New and select Template>Web banner common in the dialog box and click ok.

Now click on the bucket tool and select pattern fill and pick a pattern.The pattern that i am going to use for this tutorial is Burlwood.Now fill it with the bucket tool and you should have something like what i have below.

Now click Layer>New Layer and leave the size the same and select transperancy.Then Click Ok

Now click Filters>Light Effects>SuperNova and you may not see and image try to set your settings the way i have set mine, And if you click in the preview box you can set your image exactly where you want it then fine tune with x/y.Then when you are all done and have it the way you want it click ok

You should now have something like this.

Now you can add text just press T and click where you want your text to go you can change fonts,size,color,etc.Also check out under Filters>Blur and there are some nice effects to add to text or pics.I pretty much left my text plain just changed the font.

You should now have something like this.

When you have everything the way you want it click File>Save As and remember to save it as a .xcf file first so that you can go back and edit your layers.Then save it with you .jpg or whatever you like to use.
