This is our meager FAQ! (Hey, you knew it had to happen sometime.) If I get asked good questions, or questions that seem to be asked repeatedly, I'll put them up here.


Q. How do I become a judge?

A. Easy -- just let me know and we'll chat. It helps if you're a decent writer.

Q. Can we enter fics that have been posted elsewhere? If so, do you have a posting-time limit (i.e., only fics posted within the past 3 months can be entered, that sort of thing)?

A. Any fics are welcome to enter the contest, regardless of when or where it has been posted first. Only fics that have already won at Red Thread will not be allowed to enter again. Conan/Kaitou is still a rather small fandom in comparison to, say, Gundam Wing or Sailor Moon, where having that kind of limit would make more sense.

Q. Do the fics entered have to have the Red Thread theme?

A. Nope. We just thought it was a pretty and appropriate name for a Conan/Kaitou fanfiction contest. Entries concerning the "legend of the red thread" will be squealed over, but they will not be given special consideration and are not requirements.

Q. Are we allowed to enter fics/poems that were entered into another contest before? And would it make a difference if that fic/poem had won or not?

A. Entries that have been previously submitted into other contests will be accepted, whether having won or not. Red Thread operates independently of any other contests and/or their decisions. I only know of one other Conan fanfic contest [see links!] so it makes little sense to make a restriction. If the number of contests comes to the point where something must be done to prevent story-recycling, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
