25/10/04 - New poll
"Which will be a better game? Empire Earth 2 or Stronghold 2?"
Looks like everyones undecided: EE2: 50% SH2: 50%
We have updated the tempoary "home-made" poll to a proper one that can't be exploited. This also gives us more flexibility on the poll questions and more possible options. Poll results will now be done monthly. We kick off with a burning poll:
"Rate Rome: Total War"
You've read all about it, you've bought the game and finally had a chance to play it. Was it as good as you expected?
Vote in our latest poll NOW!
On another note, that Rome: Total War review hasn't been finished yet (or the site updated recently for that matter) because I'm having too much fun playing it!

30/9/04 - ROME IMMINENT!
Rome marches towards us. Only 2 days until its released.
1st October looms. We will aim to have a review done by the end of the week. (It's hard to write articles while playing addictive games. As a general rule of thumb, the longer it takes us to review a game, the more fun we've had playing it!)

14/9/04 - Welcome to Real RTS World.tk
Real RTS World has moved to a new address!
You can now access the site from:
http://www.realrtsworld.tk
(as the new logo suggests)

The new addresss does bring about some problems, ie. pop-up ads. Our domain host is even nicer than freewebs! They decided to slap pop-ups on the site. Still, nothing a google toolbar can't fix (Very good and more importantly FREE!). Download this and set it to block pop-ups. Real RTS World does not have any pop-ups on it apart from ads, so it is safe (and recommended) that you block them. We will not and have never supported ads on this site. If we could get rid of them we would.
The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks though. Its now much easier to get to this site. We also hope to be listed in seach engines soon!

9/9/04 - Rome: Total War setbacks
Unfortunately the release of Rome: Total war has been put back by a week, for...whatever reason. Probably bugs found in beta.
The official release date is now 1st October 2004.

2/9/04 - Site Poll Results
Our second site poll is now closed. A big thanks to everyone who voted.
"Which excites you more? Age of Empires 3 or Empire Earth 2?"
Results: AOE3 20% EE2 80%
Looks like Empire Earth 2 is the winner. Microsofts silence has done its damage.

Both can be found on the previews page.
Thats about all the info they are going to give us, so download the demo, consult the website and sit tight until Tuesday 24th September!

28/8/04 - Real RTS Forum
Our new forum will open soon, which will replace the tempary chat room. The new forum, which will be opened within the next couple of days, will have threads for discussions on the latest releases, map design, an off topic area and areas for any other threads you want to start. While this work takes place the forum page will be closed (we have to make sure all the links work, and the forum is working properly!). Reach 268 will be moderating the forums, so stay on the right side of him!
More on this as it happens!

26/8/04 - Rome: Total War Demo
Activision have been kind enough to release a playable demo of this highly anticipated game. See the Downloads page. It is well worth the time taken to download (though dial-up users should be wary). The demo features the Tutorial and a historical battle which can be played at 5 different difficulty levels. This is the battle of Trebia, the first battle featured on Time Commanders which involves Hannibal, his elephants and of course - the Romans. Even people who don't normally get demos should get this one. It's like playing Rome: Total War early. You won't regret it!
More links and the demo to download can be found on their respective pages.
Expect a further preview within the next couple of days!

"Its on the horizon!"

22/8/04 - Find Reviews Easily
To make it easier for you to find specific reviews we have created an index which can be accessed from the nav bar in the reviews section.
This lists all the titles which have been reviewed in alphabetical order along with which page they are on. There are about 4 or 5 reviews on a page. Grouping reviews means that it is easier to index and it cuts down on the loading times. This will become more and more useful as we build up an archive of reviews and create more and more pages.
We hope that you find this service helpful. Any comments/queries are appreciated. Contact us via our e-mail (realrtsworld@hotmail.com), or fill in a contact us form on this site.

23/8/04 - Our generous site host!
Freewebs, our generous site host has decided to slap a great ugly advert over the top of all our pages. Real RTS World would like to make it quite clear that we do not support, endorse or recieve any profit from Freewebs or their clients (just grief!) regarding these adverts.

21/8/04 - Results of the Site Poll
Our first site poll is now closed. We have had a very good response, and a big thanks to everyone that voted.
"Will you buy Rome: Total War?"
Yes: 42% No: 58%
So just under half of you will buy Rome. That's quite a lot of sales. Lets hope it lives up to it's expectations.

19/8/04 - Age of Mythology Reviewed
Reach 268 has kindly given us a review of the latest installment in the Age of... series. Focusing on myth rather than history (hence Age of Mythology) this title gives you the chance to zap, fry or holy thunder your way to success (with a little help from your troops) but is this just a flash in the pan? or has Microsoft created yet another legendary title with a 10 year life? Read on and find out...
This review can be found on Reviews page 1 along with the Empires review (I should have mentioned this earlier) in the reviews section.
Reach 268 has still to place the screens, but we are hoping this will be completed within the next week.

16/8/04 - Empires Reviewed
I have reviewed Empires: Dawn of the Modern World with a couple of screens. Following on from the overall sucsess of Empire Earth, Empires is made by the same designer, but by a different company. Still, its the game that counts. Empires has the best campaigns ever, but how will it stand up to our tough scoring system?

"Maybe I shouldn't have told Steve to leave his rucksack on the plane..."
