About Me
I am currently pursuing a PhD at Nottingham Trent University on computer games as newly emerging storytelling media. My research examines their relationship to canonical ideas of narrative and also how these games inform and challenge our conceptions of technicity, identity and culture, in general. I am aiming to complete my PhD in 2008. I am grateful to the ORSAS for awarding me a partial fee-waiver and to Charles Wallace India Trust for awarding me a top-up grant that enabled me to carry on with my research.
I am originally from Calcutta, India, where I received my Bachelors, Masters and MPhil degrees in English Literature, from Jadavpur University.
Besides, my PhD at Trent, I do some part-time teaching and web-designing. My academic interests are mainly narratives, gameplay and technicity in digital media, especially computer games. I am also keenly interested in Renaissance literature, history of the book studies and in the poetry of John Milton. In my leisure hours, I like playing chess and strategy-based computer games (though I don't mind shooting the odd zombie).
