Between Worlds
Hollows, vacuous and vapid,
substitute for eyes©¤
windows behold only
corridors of darkness.
The wound still festers,
searing beyond flesh,
veins are transparent and pliable.
The absence of music
has become the severest cruelty,
ethereal phrasings of love
cannot waft underground:
cyclical maze of limbo.
The reverie of words...endearments...

litany of screams
Consequences of Lineage
An encrusted corset
cuts her ribs,
riding repetitively like
horns up a cape.
Disparate romps in
the palace gardens;
entreaties to ¡®play with caution Nastya¡¯¡
glimpses of forms
clasping the wrought iron gates,
hands jutting limply:
pose of supplication or that of hunger.
A swinging lamp
rocks silhouettes against gray walls,
slipping away and reappearing,
resembling the rogue units
on the Ipatiev compound¡ª
wild-eyed and primitive.
Gnawing pain¡ª
mandible festers¡ª
omnipresent under the
burgeoning flames;
clutching a bruised arm fast.
