hammocks

you wonder why all the rat websites usually have something about hammocks for the rats well thats because rats love hammocks. they can chew them up,sleep on them and even store that secret stash of treats and other stuff like that. but above that ratz like enclose areas like inside a pocket hammock or underneath one in a corner. click on the link for tons of rat hammock ideas.http://www.hammocksamerica.com/information/rathammock2.html

where to get them

your probaby wondering where to get them.i suggest getting them from a breeder. pet stores are often dirty and there rats are ussually never handled so there not as freindly. and very often the rats can be inbred leading to deadly diseases such as upper respatory problems which could be treated but if the have it is it worth the hassle? any if you want a really good breeder in pasadena click on the link.http://www.ratzrealm.com

shows

rats are very good pets(as i've said before) but they also make very good show animals and this section is devoted to helping you win the show. first of all dont get rats just becuase they're good show animals. ok lets get started. first of all give your rat(s) baths 3-5 days before the show.use a gentle shampoo! if it is too harsh it will dry out the rats skin.also if you bath them to close to the time to go to the show there skin will be dry. also its a good idea to brush them and clip there nails. to brush them take a soft bristled toothbrush and comb them with that. clipping there nails is harder though. its a good idea to have an extra person to help. first get the rat and have the second person gently hold the rat down. then using normal nail clippers cut the sharp part of the nail off. if it bleeds use anti-persperent to cover the wound. or use bee's wax. you can also use septic powder but that burns so i don't suggest using it. rats that are too old will not qualify!  http://www.afrma.org/showindex.htm http://www.afrma.org/howshow.htm http://www.ratz.co.uk/showingrats.htm  the first link is to the show index and the second one is how to show and the third one is requirements
