Blinkie's Rat Rescue
Every creature deserves a second chance
So
you want to know about me, huh? Curious to know the type of
person who would open such a rescue. I get asked that alot
actually. Why? Well, my name is Kitty and I have been in
love with animals since the moment I was born. Now at 23 I work
at the local animal shelter (http://heritagehumanesociety.org;
we are trying to build a new shelter for the animals, so please, please
feel free to donate). At the shelter I work as a kennel tech, as
well as am in charge of the home checks and the foster program. I
am the only person allowed to bottle feed kittens who actually is
willing to do so. Because of this fact I have had up to nine
bottle feeders at once and have never gone more than a week without
some cat that in my appartment that is not perminantly staying with
me. As for my own pets...I have only 2 male rats of my own
(agouti berkshire and one hairless), 4 foster cats that decided never
to leave, one purebred sphynx (a hairless cat) and one italian
greyhound.
I have lived in Williamsburg, Virginia all of my
life. I would prefer to leave, but my job is too important for
me. I am still in school, majoring in biology with a minor in
psychology, and hope to one day make it through vetrinary school and
open my own practice. While there I am planning on working with
small exotics. I have lost too many of my beloved rats to medical
conditions that no one can do anything about. I hope to be able
to change that. I want to be able to run tests and check thyroid
levels in rats, do transplants if needed. Keep your fingers
crossed that this will come true one day!!!
If you ever need to e-mail me about anything on this site (broken
links, questions about one of the rats, etc...) you can always e-mail
me at blinkies_rat_rescue@hotmail.com.
