Held on to the championship for about 8 months defeating so many challengers such as, Mic Foley, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho and Val Venis. That's when he decided to call himself the legend killer since he has beaten all of the above, Sgt. Slaughter, and Shawn Micheals.
At wrestlemania 20 orton teamed with Flair and batista to take on The Rock and Sock connection (The Rock and Mic Foley) And orton pinned foley in a hardcore rules match.
Ever since The game turned his back on Randy he has pursued his Championship belt and he will get the chance to regain it January 9 at New Years Revoltuion where he will appear in an elimation chamber match with; Batista, Triple H, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, and Edge.
