I've decided that, due to the lack of good fiction around, something must be done. So here's your chance. To enter Mystitat's fanfiction contest, simply write me a story. Your goal is to make me laugh. That's right, it's gotta be a humor fic. I love humor fics, and it always seems like there's never enough of them. All of the entries (which follow the later specified rules) will be posted on Randomninity. There will be two winners, judged on quality and humor (by me, of course). If there is any difficulty in judging, I may consult unspecified individuals who have not entered the contest. Winners will be awarded with ... a prize to be decided upon at a later time (suggestions welcome).

Rules of the contest:

• Use decent spelling and grammar. Come on people, this is basic stuff. Use common sense. Using a beta reader is fine (but please give your beta some credit). A few errors, typos, and honest mistakes are okay, as long as they don't interfere with the flow of the story. I will be entering the funny mistakes on the funny typos page. Having your story listed there probably won't affect your chances of winning, but more than three entries will automatically disqualify you. I hope you have learned enough from visiting my site not to make such funny typos.

• No script format or MST. That's not a story; it's a script.

• Original characters are okay, but please try not to use them. I don't generally like them. For better chances winning, stick to canon characters.

• Keep it kitten-safe. R-rated stories will not be viewed highly. NC-17 will be automatically disqualified. Come on, people: if you don't want a second grader to read it, don't send it to me! (That's not to say you can't write anything at all risqué; you just can't be explicit. Use vague terms like “it” and “that” and “you know what.” I think it would be funnier that way anyway. ^_^ )

• Use of ideas from the fanfic ideas page is permitted. The only condition is that you must give me advance notice that you are using the entry (so that I may cross it off from the list).

• You may enter as many stories as you like; I'll post all of them. Though by the end of the contest, I'd like you to tell me which one you want judged (so you can't submit 20 stories and dominate the whole thing; only one will really be competing).

• All entries must be submitted by September 30^th, Pacific Standard Time.

• Entries must be at least 1,500 words, but hopefully not more than 6,000 or so. I'm looking for a length of 1-3 chapters. Please do not send me the story until it is complete.

• Entries may be submitted by:

  • emailing as an attachment (.DOC, .TXT, .PDF, .HTM(L) and .SXW formats are all okay) or inserted into the email itself (Mystitat@gmail.com)

  • emailing me a link/url to a page where the story is posted online.

  • contacting me with a link/url to a page where the story is posted online. Please do not send an entire story through the contact page.
