Welcome to the Suikogaiden Translation Project website!

First of all, you may be wondering; "what is Suikogaiden?" Spin-offs of the popular Suikoden RPG series, Suikogaiden is a series of two text-based Playstation 1 video games, Suikogaiden Volume 1: Swordsman of Harmonia and Suikogaiden Volume 2: Duel at Crystal Valley. They're both set around the Suikoden 2 storyline, and feature Nash Latkje as the main character.

Our goal is to translate Suikogaiden 1 and make a free to download English patch for the game, available for all who'd like to play it on a Playstation emulator. And if this project's a success, we'll do Suikogaiden 2 as well. :D

YAHOO! I've finally updated chapter 2, replacing Pelto's original translation with my new one!! <3 <3 <3 Whoo! It feels so good to finally update that page! Can you believe it's been more than a year since we've seen chapter 2 updated? *A* That's pretty crazy. It's also testament to everyone else's determination this past year--thanks for sticking around, everybody! Much appreciated! XD Let's keep working hard and finish this thing, alright?!! >:D Well, finish it someday. For now, let's just keep working away and giving it our all! I'm going to keep working on chapter 2 and hopefully add some more soon. <3

WOOHOO! Chapter 4 is now halfway complete! Good job, Niahak! >:D Chapter 4 has been updated with an exciting new section of translated text... I don't have time to proofread it super carefully (hoooommmmeeeewooork.... I can't avoid it any longer....! But proofreading is undoubtedly much more entertaining, lol) so you guys out there are welcome to proofread in full force! Huhu... halfway done, huh! So exciting! Once we complete another chapter's translation, we'll be officially 50% complete with Suikogaiden 1's translation. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Okay, I've gotten rid of that blue freewebs bar. I added a spiffy border to the updates box too! Nahaha! I've been so insanely busy with real life it doesn't even bear thinking about. I've barely had time to eat, much less think about translations. ;A; But maybe if I get all my homework done, I can squeeze in some more work on chapter 2 of Suikogaiden... that would be nice. Holmes, Niahak, Sage--if you guys wanna send me any reports of success (or just "yeah, I'm busy as hell too, but I'm not dead yet!") on your behalves, that would be totally heartening. Bhhh... *melts*

Alright! I added a bit more to chapter 1's translation. Some of it's quite rough, but other parts of it have come out pretty well, I think! Oh, and July marked the first anniversary of the Suikogaiden Translation Project! Well, the first anniversary for the website getting set up by yours truly. I suppose the actual work didn't begin until some months later, but regardless of the exact date... HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, SUIKOGAIDEN TRANSLATION PROJECT!!! We're now one year old. Man, it feels good to still be alive!

Waha! I've added a new bunch of translations to chapter 1! All the chapters are divided up into sections--chapter 1 has 15 such sections. And I'm now on the 10th section. 10/15! Hee! We're really getting somewhere with this project! Let's keep doing our best, everybody!! Work hard through the summer heat! (Or whatever the weather's like where ever you are!) Now I've gotta go to bed, though. Waking up in about five hours, lol.

I've translated more of chapter 1! It's a pretty rough and unpolished translation though, so I've got to go over it a few times before I can post it here with a clear conscious. My playstation emulator is whacking out, so I can't check to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly... bit of a bummer. Still, it's good to be working on this project. :3

I'd like to welcome Shouryuushi, a Japanese proofreader, to our team! (Ah... and just in case anyone is beginning to wonder why our proofreaders seem to consist entirely of British and Japanese people, Japanese/English refers to which language the member is proofreading, not their nationality.) :p I've made a couple of changes to chapter 1, courtesy of Shouryuushi, and I hope to finally get around to reading through chapter 4's new translations.

Whew! Okay, I've updated chapter 1 with a bunch of new text. :D A lot of it's rough and needs to be looked over, checked and confirmed before it can even be properly polished, but I figure a rough translation is better than nothing! It looks like I'm almost on the 9th text file, out of the 15 chapter 1 is comprised of! Sweet! Getting closer than ever...! I'm going to keep working on and updating the translation for as long as I can tonight, but my computer's been freezing up and crashing, so I thought it best to post what I could while I still can. So don't be surprised if you see more translations added to chapter 1 after this point without any updates here. :3

Also, I'd like to welcome DarthZack to the team, as a possible future game tester! <3

Thanks to SierraLatkje's proofreading skills, I've updated both chapter 1 and chapter 3, fixing a number of errors and polishing up a few things here and there. :3 Hooray for more proofreading! <3 I'm going to sit down and see if I can't get more of chapter 1 done!

Well, I've got a bit of bad news and a bit of good news. Good news first--another new member! Welcome to the team, Drasis! <3 Now for the bad news... Pelto, our translator for chapter 2, lost all of his most recent translations in a hard drive crash. :/ It sounded like there was quite a hefty chunk of translations too... 4 of the script files. It's enough to make you cry! But we're cheering you on Pelto, so... do your best! And a friendly reminder to us all to back up our translations and what-not. ;___;

Made more minor spelling corrections and a couple revisions to chapter 1. It's a little embarrassing that there can still be spelling errors floating around in there... I hope to work more on chapter 1 soon, though I've really got to concentrate on finishing Bolt and Lantern for my school project, so it probably won't be as soon as I like. :p

I've added a pretty decent chunk of translated text to chapter one, as well as converted it's format to go along with chapter 2's. That is, stay more true to the format of the extracted script. The translation is incomplete in some parts and clearly needs polishing up in others, but this is a work in progress after all, so I figured I'd post what I've got so far. I'll go back through it again once I've translated more and can be certain of certain things. :D We'll polish this thing up until it's as good as we can get it!

Alright, it looks like Sierra's rune isn't actually called "Blue Moon Rune" in the English release, although it's commonly referred to as such online. It's just "Moon Rune", which fits with the original Japanese, while the village and the curse associated with her rune are the "Blue Moon Curse" and "Village of the Blue Moon". I've updated the script to reflect this, thanks for pointing it out, AA! I haven't had time to work more on my translation of chapter 1 (or even time to update the format the chapter 1 translation was released in), and it looks like Sage and Pelto are as busy as hell too. >A< I wish we could make faster progress with this, but it's not like we're dead or anything. So!! Don't give up hope! :D

Woohoo! We've got the entire script extracted!! It's available for download in the forums. Thank you so much, Holmes! And Sage and Clay too. Everyone who's giving us such heartfelt support~! In other, fantastic news, we've got our first chunk of translated script up in the "Translations" section--it's only about 1/100087th of the first chapter, lol, but it's a start. Feel free to comment on it and provide feedback and revisions and so on all you can. :3 I'm gonna be out of town from the 25th to the 5th (or thereabouts) so I won't be responding to e-mails or on the forum, but please write all you want anyway. :D

Spectacular news--we've got our first technical volunteer (Clay) and the dear fellow is working on extracting the script for us to translate. May take awhile, but we've getting started! XD Also, I updated the members page; we've got 15 members already! Woohoo!
