Welcome to Ramsay Farms, Inc.

Quality breeding stock and companion animals

Ramsay Farms, INC.

WELCOME to our farm! Please take the time to get to know all of our animals, here at Ramsay Farms. Let me first tell you alittle about myself.

My name is Garrett Ramsay and I live near Perham, MN. I live on the farm I grew up on, and its been in my family for over 114 years. Through out my short life, I have been around several different types of animals, but have settled on a few that I really enjoy. I went to college at North Dakota State University (GO BISON!) and graduated with a degree in Animal Science, option in Business & Production, emphasizing in Genetics and Nutrition. I was on the NDSU Dairy Judging team and a member of their Saddle and Sirloin club.

I guess I could be called a perfectionist. I have tried several different hobbies and  I can never just dabble in one or two. I have to go all out. I first got my beef cattle at a young age and helped my dad with his dairy cows as I grew up. I was in charge of all the breeding records and chose all the matings that took place (we artificially inseminated all of our animals). Its been a long road but my efforts have paid off with flashy looking cattle, small birth weights, high weaning weights, polled, docile cattle.

I then took up pigeons about 13 years ago. It started as a hobby too, and now a passion of mine. I have several breeds I focus on and I am constantly trying further the breed in the pairings of the birds that I do. It too has paid off as I have won several color classes in the breeds I keep, including some in the finals of the shows.

I have only been in the dog showing hobby for almost two years. In this time I have learned alot and made many new friends. This is no longer a hobby of mine either, but a passion. My dogs are pets/family first, show dogs second, and if they never finish their titles, I will not be sad as they are my 'kids' and they make me happy.

I recently purchased some Shetland Sheep and they have fast become one of my favorite species around here. Learn more about them on their page. I have also had Pygmy Goats for a few years and they are always charming and personable, full of individual character.

I enjoy the animals themselves and I like to see the progress that I get (or don't get) each year. If its a bad year, I go back and try to see what I could do better, or differently. If its a good year, I look back to see what I did differently that made it so much better. The most important thing however is that I enjoy them all, and that is why I keep them. They are good to be around! Check out my links for more details on my other critters!

ALL of my species of animals are well cared for, are vaccinated, wormed, housed in clean barns (in the house for my dogs!) are given the best possible food available and are loved from the minute they set foot on my farm. I only want what is best for my dogs and other animals, and best for their breeds in general.

I am enrolled in the Scrapie Flock Certification Program (SFCP), flock #MN71

Our farm NAIS number is 005RDKQ.

I am a proud member of the American Simmental Association, member # 221951

and for the National Colored Wool Growers Association, member # 4522

and North American Shetland Sheep Association, member # 1613

All animals are vaccinated yearly and are wormed every few months. We rotationally graze all of our animals and they are raised on a grass fed base.
