At the heart of the horse country is Rambo Equestrian Center, a mini-barn located on the property on Claiborne Farms Ltd. With 10 acres of land to call our own and full use of all arenas and trails at Claiborne. While originally a breeder of strickly Paints, Nicole has engaged herself in the live-wire sport of Reining, along with other cow-related sports. Combining some of the best bloodlines in Riata with some of the most agile and intelligent Quarter Horses, Nicole has successfully begun a breeding and training regime devoted to her Reiners. Here, it's not about one specific breed -- it's about talent, durability, and intelligence.
Reining Defined...by the NRHA
Reining is a judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch-type horse within the confines of a show arena. In NRHA competitions, contestants are required to run one of 10 approved patterns, included in the NRHA handbook. Each pattern includes small slow circles, large fast circles. flying lead changes, rollbacks over the hocks, 360-degree spins done in place, and exciting sliding stops that are the hallmark of the reining horse. The NRHA judging system is recognized as the leading format for judging an equine event that combines technical and stylistic elements coupled with consideration of "degree of difficulty." Many segments of equine judging discipline have openly embraced the NRHA judging system.
