What Would Jesus Do?

ralphsmole Posted by ralphsmole at 06:18 PM on April 07, 2009

I just heard on the local news that TCU(Texas Christian University) in Ft.Worth,TX is opening a housing unit specifically for gay couples! Does anybody other than me find something dreadfully wrong with this? How can a "Christian" university allow something like this?? I hope that parents of straight students start withdrawing their children IMMEDIATELY! I used to be a fan of the Horned Frogs football team. NO MORE! I'm just wondering what Jesus is doing now?

I agree. How can a supposedly "Christian" school allow it's students to engage in sinful behavior, AND encourage it!! I am completely flabbergasted. I am encouraging everyone in my church to pray for the powers-to-be at TCU and I hope everyone here does the same. Satan is obviously manifesting himself at that school. May God regain a foothold there :-)

Sorry, but aren't christians (those that are CHRIST-LIKE?) supposed to accept and forgive everyone? Since when are gays lesser people with lesser reason for respect? Sorry, but this is the type of thinking even at age 11 that made me denounce the christian god for the fraud he is, simply put: if he wanted his reputation to stand, he would have better people pushing his beliefs, not hate mongers and bigots.

You're a good guy Ralph, but this whole 'gay' thing that most christians abhor so vehemently is just mindless rabble. It's nothing more than a reason to feel above the herd. I mean, hell, if christians really did accept everyone, then there would be no goal to attain by being baptized or annulled, you would just accept that people are good, bad, and varying degrees of, and people would just 'be', therein would be no cause for religion at all because it would be a universal understanding that things have been, are, and will be as they should and that nothing more is expected.

That would be the way the world would work if I ran it. Gays have been around since the beginning of time...start getting used to it and stop pretending as if it's a sudden biological epidemic infecting the masses. If you're not gay, then you have nothing to worry about. I, am comfortable with being a heterosexual male that loves women. Therefore, having gay friends is the same as having straight friends....they're friends, not potential lovers.

Enough with this fear already guys. If you must insist on remaining christian, get back to the core belief structure, that which can be summed up in one sentence:

Treat others as though you would like to be treated.

that is all there is to it. I hope you really hear what I'm saying and don't think I'm just bashing for the sake of bashing. I'm not. I actually do, for the most part, follow the core philosophy of christianity, but I choose to not focus on the details or attend any organized establishment because the book is a collection of parabolas and morality tales, not actual historical facts or events. It's touted as such, but that is a lie. The Bible is a book of metaphors and examples to live by that have been borrowed by many different religions including Egyptian Book of the Dead and Paganism. The Bible is not original or unique. Church would be so much better if people taught it that way instead of indoctrinating their flock with false knowledge and hate anthems.

That's it. It just makes me sad that even today people can't think for themselves enough to read between the lines. This world is still very much primitive...not ready for the future that should have been here already. One full of actual peace and understanding and acceptance.

One day, when the din of the war cries subside, and the smoke on the battlefield clears, those still standing will shake hands and smile...for once.

Great points. But if Texas CHRISTIAN University were to allow gay couples to cohabitate, they would've been violating their OWN doctrines. I personally have nothing against gays,it's not my job to judge them. But if I were a strict Christian parent, sending my Christian children to TCU and found they were allowing gay couples to cohabitate, I'd be questioning why a Christian institution of "higher" learning was allowing this.

Ralph, I explain that reason in my little essay. The fact that gays are automatically excluded from 'Christian' schooling is the first offense. The slap in the face is that they thought about it, and rejected the idea.

shame.
