  •  what are xmods?
  •    Well first of all there are two versions of xmods the generation one, and the evolution.
  •    The evolution xmods are only found in the us, and the generation ones are only found... well... everywhere else.
  •   since the evolution xmods are newer they should obviosly have some improvements over the gen 1s
  • They include...
  •
  •  10% faster right out of the box.

Up to 75% faster with motor upgrade Top speed of up to 880 feet per minute                                   40% narrower turning radius for precise handling.                                                                                   Lower center of gravity offers faster turns, improved braking

Here are pics of the different chassis types. Be looking for updates when the new chassis (hopefully) comes out for christmas time!

Generation one Xmod Chassis (2003)

remember where the motor

and batteries are mounted

 evolution Chassis (2005)
Batteries are relocated to under the chassis. the motor is now 1000 rpm faster stock at 27000 rpm and is sitting sideways near the back of the chassis.
The whole suspension and steering has also been changed. the original Xmod has the yellow swing arms style while the newer Evo uses the floating pivot arm system like some larger scale rcs where the suspension actually pivots from side to side before the springs start to absorb any bumps in the road. This way you have a rear axle that stays on the road. you probably heard of an idea for the gen 1 using a monoshock that runs across the shock towers of the swingarms. This way is a much better way of doing it.
The new chassis tries to cover all the awd shaft which completely reduces the amount of dirt and hair you'll be cleaning out of them. Oh yeah and guess what? you only have to install that bulky driveshaft if you want awd so it is much lighter! You can also buy lightweight carbon fiber driveshafts for your awd kit.
The Truck chassis is very similar but obviously sits much higher off the ground, the motor is placed further back but shares the same gearing as the car chassis.

The only really obvious differences are the big wheels, the pivot in the rear, and more ground clearance.

  • remember the most important upgrades to begin with.
  •  stage 2 motor
  • ball bearings
  • awd
  • tire upgrade

  • here are more differences of the evo line.
  1. The steering servo motor is much bigger and the Evo has an increased the turning radius of at least 40%.
  2.
  3.   Relocating the batteries to under the chassis is great for handling since it lowers the center of gravity and lessens the likeliness of flipping. Like the Gen 1 the battery tray is also adjustable forwards or back to help fine tune the weight distribution.
  4.  The driveline is made almost completely from plastic and with such small parts it handles the stress of a motor well.
  5. The new electronics board sports larger traces and uses one flat board which eliminates the extra wiring between the receiver, servo and MainBoard. The new board also uses better FET's which handle many more amps at peak. You can also upgrade these in order to run faster and faster motors that pull more amps.
  6. The Motors are now pinion less...
Well let me explain the original Xmod motor/upgrade had a brass pinion permanently stuck on the motor shaft, removal required a pinion puller The Evo motor uses these new plastic pinions that you just push on and pull off!

Apparently the nice folks at radioshack did their homework and improved their xmod a lot. Lets wait untill the new xmods come out and we will compare those too.
