I trained at RAF Bridgnorth - May 1957 and posted to Locking in June on GRM(NavC) course... because of the 'Flu outbreak that year we were longer in training than was usual....I was then posted to RAF Marham - (my Grandfather originated from there before moving to N.E Yorkshire, near REDCAR)..- Then on to RAF Church Fenton and then to RAF Ahlhorn, just as it was handed back to the Luftwaffe....We mantained the GCA Unit there and lived in the former families hostel off the station....with a great group of Officers and crew..My final move was to RAF Gutersloh...., ( The SWO was Charlie Pummery, who was also GSM of the Sundern Scout Troop....As it turned out his daughter lived just around the corner from my home - that was quite a surprise to find him standing at my front door..).... from June 1958 until February 1960 when I returned home to N.Yorshire... I'd be very pleased to hear from any of the lads with whom I served during those years in the RAF...(With a special mention of the young Apprentice that I met inthe camp hospital during the 'Flu epidemic at RAF Locking - I never knew his name...they apparently were not allowed to 'fraternise' with the other serving members.....
