France 1940/Early War

Blenheim IV

Blenheim L8756, XD-E, 139 Squadron, RAF, Plivot, France, spring 1940. This machine was part of the air component of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) operating in France during May 1940 in a vain attempt to stop the German Blitzkrieg. It differs from French-based RAF fighters of the period in not sporting a French-style rudder flash.

Hurricane I

Hurricane P2569, D, 73 Squadron, Rouvres, April 1940. This early war machine features one black-undersided wing for identification purposes and a French style rudder flash.

Spitfire IA

Spitfire L1067, XT-D, 603 Squadron, Aberdeen/Dyce, March 1940. An early war Spitfire with fairly sparse markings. I'd like to have "blacked" one wing like I did with the France 1940 Hurricane, but the layout only provides for one wing surface.

Wellington

Wellington R1492, LN-K, RAF, 1939-42. An early war scheme for the bomber with which the RAF had to fight the early part of the war with, before the arrival of the four engined 'heavies', starting with the Short Stirling. It features an early roundel with its wide yellow border, a wavy demarcation between the upper and lower surfaces, and codes in grey as opposed to the later red.
