             Daria Jane

Well this is my Daria shrine. Daria is my favroite T.V. show and it should have never been canceled. If I ever come in contact with the vile idiot that cancled it they better run... fast...

My Favroite Daria Quotes:

Jake:"See those berries? That's our breakfast! See that stream? That's our drinking water!"
Daria:"See that skeleton? That's our future."
-From "The Teachings Of Don Jake."

Mr. O'Neill:"You know what they say: A spoonfull of sugar helps the medicine go down!"
Jane:"Not if you're diabetic."
-From "Arts 'n' Crass."

Jake:"Won't this camping trip be fun, Daria?"
Daria:"Yeah. Almost as fun as drowning."
-From "The Teachings Of Don Jake."

Jane: No way baby.
Daria: Come on. Do it for friendship.
Jane: I have no friends. I walk alone.
Daria: Well then do it for sisterhood or something.
Jane: Are you nuts.
Daria: Then do it for the opportunity to look inside people's houses and find out what screwed up tastes they have.
Jane: I'm bringing a Polaroid.

Season One

Episode #1 : Esteemsters

After moving to Lawndale, Daria and Quinn Morgendorffer attend Lawndale High, where the bratty Quinn becomes instantly popular. Daria stands out in her class, being sarcastic and quiet. She makes one friend, Jane Lane, who acts just like her. Daria and Quinn are tested for self-esteem. Quinn passes, but Daria fails and is forced to take a self-esteem class, where she also finds Jane. Jane says she has taken the class 4 times and knows all the answers, so they decide to pass so they can go to UFO conventions. Unfortunetely, their teacher, Mr. O'Neill, is so amazed they passed so quickly that he forces them to make a speech in front of the whole school. Jane fakes a self-esteem breakdown while Daria embarrasses Quinn by telling the whole school that she is Quinn's sister and that Quinn is a wonderful sister who helped her develop better self-esteem.

Episode 2 : The Invitation

Daria is invited to Brittany's party after helping her with an art project. When Quinn (who was also invited, of course) finds out that Daria was invited, she begs Daria not to come, so of course she does come, to humiliate Quinn. Jane comes with Daria, getting in by lying. When Daria shows up, Quinn hides behind the ugly ceramic tiger. Joey, Jeffy, and Jamie spend the whole night fighting over Quinn. When the police show up, everyone is forced to leave and Daria, Jane, and Quinn get a ride home from Upchuck (who was invited for helping Brittany dissect a frog).

Episode 3: College Bored

For a college prep class, Daria and Quinn go to Middleton College, which is ironically where there parents both went. Jake tries to be cool and impress the college guys, but they just ignore him. Helen remembers her college days. Because of this, they all get seperated. College students start to pay Daria for doing their term papers. Finally, they are all kicked off the campus when Quinn becomes "keg queen" at a boys' frat party.

Episode 4: Cafe Disaffecto

When alt.lawndale.com, Lawndale's Cyber Cafe, is torn up and burglarized, Mr. O'Neill decides to start a Coffee House, called the Lawndale Coffee House. Helen told Daria she would send her to music school if she didn't help out, so Daria helps with fundraising. Daria and Jane sell candy bars, and when they come to a fat lady's house, they refuse to sell her any chocolate because she had just passed out in front of their eyes. So Ms. Li tells them they won't get any credit for fundraising. Meanwhile, Quinn comes to Ms. Li's office to get more calling cards, which she had already sold boxes of by persuading boys to buy them. Daria is then forced to tell one of her infamous stories at the coffee house, which causes an anti-communist rally and ends up putting the coffee house out of business.

Episode 5: Malled

Daria's class takes a field trip to a huge new mall. This does not make her and Jane very happy. After they get there, they find out that they are being watched and researched, and to keep them quiet, the mall workers give the whole class $20 savings bonds for different stores at the mall. Daria just happens to get one for The "Doodad" Shop. Jane gets one for the hair salon, and keeps telling the worker that she wants a pair of scissors, but they will not give her a pair, so Daria and Jane leave to go to the Doodad Shop, where Daria is the 10,000th customer and gets her picture taken with her new free doodads. In case you couldn't guess, she was not smiling. Finally, they go home, and Quinn has to do all the chores at home for a month when Daria threatens to tell her parents that Quinn skipped school to go to the mall.

Episode 6: This Year's Model

When modeling scouts come to Lawndale High, everyone is excited (except Daria and Jane, of course). Right off the bat, Quinn is selected. The scouts call her a "potential model." She takes a class that Helen and Jake don't want her to. Daria and Jane go to the auditorium to watch. Ms. Li is quite upset when she finds out the models have to rub the guys' chests, and so classes are stopped. Quinn is mad, because she knows she could be a model, but it turns out to be Kevin who is picked.

Episode 7: Lab Brat

Daria is paired with Kevin in a science project, and Brittany is paired with Upchuck. Brittany is blackmailed into being Upchuck's personal slave when he threatens to show Kevin a picture of her and an anonymous boy in the backseat of a car. Daria does the whole project while Kevin watches the Football Channel. Meanwhile, Quinn tries to hit on him, but he makes her get him drinks and other stuff. Kevin spends so much time at Daria's house that Brittany suspects Daria of trying to steal Kevin away from her. She then steals a vital part of Daria's project: a mouse. When Brittany finds out Daria is not trying to steal Kevin, she returns the mouse to Daria's project, which receives an A+. Ironically, Brittany and Upchuck's project gets an F.

Episode 8: Pinch Sitter

Daria takes Quinn's baby-sitting job when Quinn has a date, but even though she hates baby-sitting, she gets paid, so she doesn't care. So, here she is, baby-sitting the perfect little Gupty kids, who love to watch five-day weather forecasts, to learn new words, to listen to old broken records, and to brush their teeth. Daria is so frightened, she calls Jane over to help. They read the children fairy tales in an evil way, and make them watch Sick Sad World. In other words, they become the Gupty kids' favorite babysitters.

Episode 9: Too Cute

Brooke has a nose job done and Quinn is worried she will not be as cute as Brooke, so she decides to get plastic surgery. She takes Daria to Dr. Shar, a plastic surgeon. She tells Quinn it will cost $6,000 and gives Daria a pair of fake boobs. Quinn takes Jane's sarcastic remark to earn $6,000 by taking a collection. But when Brooke has a nasal relapse where her nose completely caves in, Quinn finally decides not to get surgery.

Episode 10: The Big House

Helen makes up a set of completely pointless and stupid rules when Daria and Quinn come home past their curfew. When Quinn is caught after lying that she would be studying but actually went on a date, Helen decides to hold a family court to decide what will happen. Jake is a pathetic judge, and Helen is the jury. They decide to ground Daria and Quinn for a month. Daria reads books, while Quinn paces around nervously. Meanwhile, at school, rumours go around about Daria's punishment. Jane comes to Daria's house and Daria gets out of being grounded by letting Jake win a game of Monopoly. She goes to a faculty vs. DJs rolley-hockey game at her school, where the players beat each other up. Then, Helen, too, says that Daria is not grounded anymore.

Episode 11: Road Warriors

Daria and Quinn go to Alternapalooza, a huge concert, while Helen and Jake chase each other around the house. Daria goes with Jane, Jessie, and Trent while Quinn goes with (who else?) The Fashion Club. Daria humiliates herself in front of Trent by hitting her head, sitting on a peanut butter sandwich, being stung by a bee, and having her glasses break. They get stuck in a traffic jam, and Daria is embarassed again when she has to go to the bathroom and Jessie keeps talking about it. Their van breaks down, and Jane and Jessie go for help. Trent plays his guitar for Daria, and she begins to like him even more. Jane fixes the van with the glue gun she's had for the whole episode, but by then the concert is over, and they go back home, while Quinn and the rest of the Fashion Club skip the concert to go outlet shopping.

Episode 12: The Teachings Of Don Jake

The Morgendorffers go camping when Jake pops a blood vessel in his eye from being under too much stress. They tell scary stories which are not so scary after all. In the morning, they all eat berries except Daria. The berries make Helen and Jake run around looking for Jake's "spirit animal," and Quinn keeps talking about the "glitter berries." Daria finds Helen's cellular phone, calls 911, they are flown to a hospital, and the Morgendorffers (except Daria) have their stomachs pumped. Meanwhile, Jane and Trent are forced to go to their family reunion. They are woken up at 7 in the morning, Trent is called a bum by his uncle, Jane is yelled at hysterically by her psychotic grandmother, and they are forced to play croquet. Finally, they can't stand it anymore, and they go to the airport and fly home.

Episode 13: The Misery Chick

Former Lawndale High Quarterback Tommy Sherman is coming back to LH to see a goalpost be put up in his honor. The reason for the goalpost is that he would always show off and run into the goalpost so they put up one that would fall down when someone ran into it instead of hurting them. When Tommy Sherman comes, he is rude to everyone, including Kevin, who idolizes him. He is also self-centered. So Daria wishes he would die and about a minute later, the goalpost falls on him and he dies. When the students find out that Daria wished for it to happen, they start calling her a "misery chick." When Jane starts to ignore Daria, she goes to Jane's house and they talk about it. Jane says that Daria should feel bad about it, but she can't help it. She does feel a little sorry though. So the next day, Sandi tells Daria that her cat OD'd on her foundation and asks Daria for advice. Daria charges her 10 dollars, and says she made a mistake, charging her 10 dollars for advice; next time, 20.

Season Two
Episode 1: Arts 'n' Crass

Ms. Li announces that there will be an art contest with the theme Student Life At The Dawn Of The New Millenium. The art teacher encourages Jane to enter, saying Jane is very talented and could probably win the contest. Once Jane convinces Daria to help her, they discuss what should be on the picture. Daria suggests putting a picture of Brittany and Kevin on the front, with the words America's Future Leaders. Jane says no, that would be too depressing. Then Daria comes up with an idea. They show Ms. Li and Mr. O'Neill the poster, which has a picture of a pretty, young girl with the caption poem on the bottom,

"She knows she's a winner,
She couldn't be thinner,
Now she goes in the bathroom,
And vomits up dinner."

When Mr. O'Neill and Ms. Li see the poster, they insist on changing it a "little bit." Mr. O'Neill gives it a "slight change" and hands it back to them. Here's what his caption said:

She knows she's a winner,
She couldn't be thinner,
'Cause she watches what she eats,
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
GOOD NUTRITION RULES!

This, of course, makes Daria and Jane mad, and they decide to do something about it. They go to the school when the posters are being displayed and deface their own poster. Ms. Li tells Helen about the situation and Helen threatens her with a lawsuit, so they don't get in trouble.

Episode 7: The New Kid

Daria is forced to do photography for the school yearbook, where she meets Ted, a dorky new kid. Daria finds out that Ted likes her. He tells Daria that he thinks the pictures of the clubs, sports, cheerleaders, etc. should be taken out from the yearbook, and when he asks Daria about it and she says it's a good idea, he takes her to Mr. DeMartino and tells him about it. The other students get mad at Ted and Daria, especially the Fashion Club. Quinn tries to bribe Daria with a date, but Daria finds out and leaves. Daria goes to Ted's house and ruins his overprotective, happy little life by giving him gum, which he's never seen before, and making his parents upset and angry. Daria begins to like Ted, too (scary, huh?) and they go to the video arcade together. When they play a Virtual Reality game, Ted analyzes it and beats everyone easily. He then becomes popular and Daria leaves sadly. When Ms. Barch finds out that the pictures will be cut from the yearbook, she beats up Mr. DeMartino and he puts the pictures back in.
