How It All Began...

If there is anyone who wants to play for us or against us, supporters team or not, then you can contact us by e-mailing Ryan Lewis on razz2k@aol.com or on the Supporters Team Forum.

The idea to start the team was put forward in late 2003 when the supporters of Radcliffe Borough were challenged by some from Hyde United.  That game however was postponed shortly after, and we decided as a group that they wanted to play games against other teams. The first game was played against Shrewsbury Town Away Supporters F.C. on 24th January 2004.   We played 6-a-side due to a waterlogged pitch on the Radcliffe Borough Sports Complex and lost 7-5 (above).

Since then we have become much stronger as a team and more organised, drawing our first 11-a-side game with Forever Bury F.C. on Valentine's Day before defeating sides from other clubs with much larger fan bases.  These included a 4-1 victory over StanleyFans F.C. at the Interlink Express Stadium, and a pair of wins over Portchat F.C. of Southport.

In May 2004 we held our first, of what is hoped to be an annual, supporters team tournament (below).  Even if results did not go our way a great day was had by all involved, especially StanleyFans F.C. who lifted the innaugural trophy defeating Simon's Hotpants of Farsley Celtic in the final.

In time for the 2004/05 season we were accepted into the Internet Football Association League.  This gives us the opportunity for some silverware at the end of the season, as well as the chance to compete against supporters of clubs from Aberdeen to Welling United, all while maintaining the fun expected from fans football.  Fortunately for us many of the local sides don't have fans teams within the league which means we may get quite a few matches against clubs playing Accrington Stanley, Altrincham, Ashton United, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Bury, Droylsden, Halifax Town, Leeds United, Leigh RMI, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Northwich Victoria, Oldham Athletic, and Rochdale.

Above all the games arent really competitive but fun, and although we want to win, we know that isn't everything and play in a friendly spirit.  All the games so far have been played in this way with warm hospitality afterwards and we hope it stays that way.
