Podcasting to rabbit-hole dwellers everywhere...

BRADLEY (HOST)

Bradley Dalton (yours truly) was born in 1978 and raised in Colorado.  As a child she lived in the Middle East and Africa.  She attended California State University and graduated in 2002.  Her interests during university included Political Science, Jurisprudence, and Religion.  Her plan was to take a year "off" to run track & field with an Italian team and learn Italian language before returning to the United States for Law School (Human Rights and/or International Law).  She currently works and trains in Italy, where she spends half the day translating and teaching, and the other half at the track.  Her hobbies include memorizing useless trivia facts relating to Italian culture, travelling, exploring, and ensuring the survival of the only Habanero pepper plant in Italy, which she illegaly smuggled into the country.  (She really likes Mexican food)

NINO ASTRONAUTA (THEME MUSIC)

Nino Astronauta is originally from Ensenada, Mexico; but now live in Los Angeles, California.  They represent the progressive continuation of an international Electronic Music movement started a few years ago in Tijuana, Mexico by the Nortec Collective. Having crossed the border, both nationally & stylistically, this powerful trio - comprised by Tati (Bass), Arhkota (Drums) & Nashio (Keys/Laptop) - continues to explore musical fusion via electronics but relies more on live instrumentation than adding obscure Norteno samples over dance beats. Ending up somewhere between Nu-Jazz, Jazz Fusion, House, Breakbeat genres the result of their self-titled debut is truly something unique and fresh.

The songs featured on our podcast are Picale Pancho and Cosmonauta.

ELIZABETH PENWELL (SHANGHAI CONTRIBUTOR)

Elizabeth Penwell is our Shanghai, China correspondent.  Okay,  her name isn't actually  Elizabeth Penwell.  That's a pseudonym.  (If we told you who she really is, we'd have to shoot you.)  Liz is a business professional who, because she works in China, prefers to write for us anonymously.  (That isn't a photo of her, either.  In case you were wondering.)   We can tell you that she graduated from a university in the United States, that  she married a Chinese-American, and that  she's trying her best not to take any guff off of Chinese cab drivers.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling around Asia, shopping, and trying to not get killed on her bicycle in the crazy Shanghai traffic.

MEGAN & NOAH (GUADALAJARA CONTRIBUTORS)

Married couple Megan and Noah have lived in Guadalajara for nearly a year.  Both work in Guadalajara, and have a spectacular web log which documents their experiences: http://www.hawktaildesign.com/weblog/ Before moving to Guadalajara they lived in Portland, Oregon. While Megan is a native Oregonian, Noah is originally from Northern California.

The portrait at right is actually them!  (I'd recognize them anywhere- see the ipod in Noah's hand?) It was commissioned for their wedding.  Should you like to see the full-size version:

RACHAEL (WINDHOEK CONTRIBUTOR)

Rachael Johnson was born in Nottingham, England and now lives in Windhoek, Namibia.  She grew up in a lot of exotic places; Indonesia, South Africa... South Wales.  She left Wales to go to University (South East Asian Studies), and has lived in Namibia for a year.  She works as a volunteer fundraiser for a small HIV/AIDS prevention organization.

When asked about what facts would be pertinent in the writing of her biography, she replied: "I'm 32.  I miss my shoes.  I love to read, but am constantly battling a dearth of available books.  I'm completely addicted to travel.  I used to be a tour leader for an adventure travel company until all the clients drove me completely crazy.  Jaffa cakes are my favourite biscuits.  I love sushi, and seafood, which is why living in a desert country is a challenge.  I'm single."

If you're wondering what life in Namibia is like (I learned what the words "braai" and "boerwor" mean) you can read her web log:

ANNE (ROME CONTRIBUTOR)

How long has contributor Anne Woodall lived in Rome?  Well, when she first arrived, she wasn’t spending Euros, she was spending Lira.  Originally from Pennsylvania, Anne studied art history, then settled here.  She’s a single mom, so she spends a lot of time on Roman highways and biways.  She’s pictured here in the rearview mirror of her Fiat Panda while driving the ‘autostrada’, and has possibly driven more kilometers in Rome than Caesar himself did.  Anne is also a regular contributor in the chat portion of the podcast, speaks Italian better than just about anyone, and knows everything about everything Italian.
