"Climbing to the top, one hop at a time"

My pricing philosophy

My pricing varies, but I try to keep it simple. I try not to keep my prices too high, I try to stay the same or lower than most, but at the same time, I try not to keep my prices too low in order to discourage unethical buyers.

The actual pricing will vary depending upon the quality of the rabbit; if it's show, brood, or pet quality.  Fair pricing will be determined by me. Prices are subject to the quality of the rabbit and are subject to change at any time, (with or with out notice). I reserve the right to refuse a sale to anyone, at anytime, for any reason. I will consider a multi-pet discount and/or trades.

HOLD

You may place a rabbit on hold for a non-refundable deposit of 1/2 down. And I say non-refundable for several reasons. #1 - it ensures you'll come back if you've already got money invested. #2 - I still have to feed, maintain, house, groom, exercise, love and clean the cages of the ones who are still here but on hold. #3 - Somebody else could've come along who wanted the one you've got on hold and I could've sold him/her already but because they're on hold, I'm out the sale. And if you back out, I'm doubly out. I may have to hold onto that rabbit for 3 more weeks or 3 more months before s/he can be sold.  Rabbits will be held up to a week, after that, I generally charge $5 a week to hold the rabbit and keep it here for you.

Forms of payment accepted

Acceptable forms of payments include:

  • cash (cash is strongly prefered! Other forms of payment are accepted depending on circumstances),
  • money order or cashiers check
  • credit card (I can take visa, mastercard, or discover. Please notify me in advance if you'd like to pay by c/c so that I can bring my knuckle buster w/me to a show, small fee applies)
  • Paypal (P/p needs to be from existing funds only. Or you can do an instant transfer from your bank account. I cannot accept c/card pymts thru p/pal)
  • checks are NOT an acceptable form of payment! With all of the different pymt options that there are, there is really just no need for checks anymore, I don't know why they're not obsolete by now, anyhow. LOL! The way I look at it, if the money's in your account, then you can pull it out. Either that or I can run your card.

What's a rabbit worth?

How much do YOU think a good rabbit is worth? (Think about a price range in your head). How much would you pay for a show quality rabbit out of champion stock with good lines to back them up?  How much for a  good, quality rabbit, that would be a good breeder, would help to improve your lines, and that only has minor flaws? (brood doe/herd buck). How much for a small, family pet that is so easy to care for, doesn't need to see a vet regularly, doesn't need shots, requires little time/attention,  doesn't need much room, and won't be a nuisance to neighbors, that you and/or your family will cherish and love for years to come?

Here is what we try to figure in when we price our rabbits:

1) How much do others get out of comparable rabbits?
2) How much did we pay for our origional breeders?
3) How much did it cost to raise it to the age that it is?
4) How bad do I want to keep it?
5) How bad do I want to sell it? (for example; too many bucks, desperate for cage space, no room for expansion, am I going through a herd reduction, too many of the same variety that I'm already keeping, etc...)
6) Are we going to have to compete against it or it's offspring? (and is this person really a threat? if they get the best, do they know what to do with it?)
7) Time of the year (rabbits are more in demand in the spring time. In the fall, when the shows have stopped, no one is buying and everyone is selling)
8) How "in demand" is this particular breed? This particular color? Is it rare?

So, before you make your purchase, (with me or anyone else, for that matter), think about what YOU think is a fair price on a good rabbit. Of course, everyone wants grand champion show winners and good quality show stock for nothing. (Sorry, but there are no $5 show winners ANYwhere!) I've had to tell people that these are my rabbits, and I don't really care to sell them. I will just keep them and continue showing/breeding them. But...if you want them...this is my price. If you want to stick with $5 rabbits, that's fine, but just don't expect to win with them. If you have any questions or would like to talk rabbits, drop me a line. I would be more than happy to help you find something that suits your needs. Or, if you're still not sure, name your price range that you'd like to stick within, and I'll let you know what I have in your price range that would best suit your needs at this time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a better understanding for us breeders out there who are striving to better the breeds and develop quality stock that is a good representation of the breed.

Sincerely,
Tania Rosenbrook
