Why do you need a visa run?
|
| Foreigners who come to Thailand normally will get a 30 days arrival visa. A 10 days extension can be done in Bangkok, but it will cost you 1,900 baht. This can almost ruin your day by queuing, traveling and handling all the paperwork at the Immigration office. If you are willing to stay longer, then you have to leave the country and come back again. |

Where to go for a visa run?
|
Most foreigners in Bangkok will go to Cambodian borders and turn around back to Thailand on the same day. The most well-known border is called Aranyaprathet at the Thailand side, and called Poi-Pet at the Cambodian side of the border.
But we don't go there! Because Aranyaprathet is so well-known, many people go there everyday, plus the local Thai gamblers go to Casinos on the Cambodian side as well, just imagine a long queue in front of you in a hot day without any shelter, then suddenly it rains ........ |

What time to leave for a visa run?
|
In order to do a visa run in one day, most people have to leave home early, between 5:00 to 7:00 in the morning. It will take about 4 hours to get there, average 2 hours spent at the Aranyaprathet border, then another 4 hours back to Bangkok. Most probably you will arrive in Bangkok about 6:00 in the evening. It is too late for work, and too early to go out.
We leave at 9:30 in the morning which gives you a decent sleep and time for a proper breakfast. Because we don't go to Aranyaprathet, we only spend less than 30 minutes at the border, no waiting, no queuing and no hassles at all. We will come back around 6:30 in the evening. |
