ndeed, in Grimm's Fairy Tales, the hero always goes into the forest. It is not itself enchanted, but it contains enchantments and, being outside normal human experience, acts as a place of transformation. The forest is often filled with magical animals, plants, maybe even magical rocks and creeks. Often there will be elves, dwarves, and other mythical creatures that may or may not have been made up by the author on the spot, and trees that talk or with branches that will push people off their horses, and thorny bushes which will open to let people in but close and leave people stuck inside, and other plants that move, or turn into animals at night, or the like. Perhaps there will even be creeks which will turn unwary travelers into frogs if drunk from, and maybe sorcerers live somewhere in the depths of the forest...

Merry Yule! I have a gift for all you readers, some free twitter backgrounds I made...
I love twitter's iconic bird and wanted to put a forest creature twist on the classic theme. I took pictures of some things I had lying around the house for the birds.
Feel free to use them. Simply select your color, click the link and save to your computer!

Twitter Bird Background available in purple, green, & brown.
Little Bird was a vintage lemon juicer that I got for my friend Anika at an antique store.

Twitter Owl Background available in purple, green & brown.
The Owl is a wise ornament my mother got at a rummage sale a few winters ago.

Today was so cool! I woke up early in my tent and went across the street to Jesse's so he could drive us to the yard sales. We went all around the neighborhood and got some great deals. I got: an Apple Bottoms shirt, Nintendo DS game suitcase, a lime green and silver straightening/crimping iron, small notepad, and stuffed animals all for under $2! At another yard sale, they had a plushie My Little Pony that jesse pointed out to me, I smirked and said "I've already seen it" and the yard sale owner gave it to me! The night before, I entered a contest online to win a free pair of shoes. The guy at the yard sale saw me looking at a cute pair of forest pixie brown leather flats and said "Merry Christmas" and gave them to me, too! I didn't win the contest, but I got a new pair of shoes that I needed, yay! I thought, "The universe must be conspiring to shower me with blessing today!" At another yard sale, I saw some books and two titles jumped out at me: The Six of Swords and The Magician's Apprentence. I took it to mean that me and Jesse were finally getting out and driving but he was still like the Fool learning. He was also the Magician, able to make things happen. We drove home and ate a meager meal of hawaiian bread rolls and Cuties clementine oranges. I put on my new outfit and went outside to check the mail. The mailman was in his truck and I sat on a nearby tuffet and waited. I heard him mumble "Aw, shit.." and drive away. When I checked my box, there was nothing there. I haven't recieved any mail for three whole days! I chased down the mailman and asked him if he couldn't open my box and he said he was having trouble and gave me my mail. Mystery solved! I got some christmas cards and magzines. Then me and Jesse got ready to go to a party at a new thrift store in town that was like a labrynth of different themed rooms, one room was full of nothing but creepy vintage dolls! Santa and the Grinch were there and a beautiful woman in a deerskin dress singing kareoke. We picked up some presents for people and hung out for a bit. In the book room, I saw another crazy tarot card reference: The Jack of Swords. So Jesse was also the page of swords, having to rely on wit and intelligence to get what he wanted. We stopped by our friend Ruben's house on the way back but he was sleeping. Later, he showed up at my house and we talked about boys. Jesse and I made a fun forest wonderland in the tent with lights and stuffed animals and watched movies on my purple VCR. We watched the Disney Channel Original Movie Luck of the Irish and a strange animated film about knights called Ivanhoe. When my mom got home and opened the christmas cards, our great grandfather send us $200 and she split it with me! (Apparently this event happened right when the kid on Luck of the Irish found money in the street!) I can finally afford some decent presents for the rest of the people on my list! What a great day, all I can say is Thank Youniverse for all the wonderful, magical things in my life!

Page of Hearts: The page of hearts represents the beginning of a new creative project and teaches that inspiration can be found in unlikely places. Love, romance, and emotion rule the suit of hearts and their influence can be felt in this new phase of life. The page wants things to come together and is eager to see the future unfold. The page of hearts represents me with The Forest as my creative project and the love that drives it.
The Unicorn: The old myth goes that a unicorn can only be tamed by a virgin (which doesn't exactly mean one who has never had sexual intercourse, in Ancient Greece a virgin was a woman who had not yet given birth) which correlates to the traditional tarot card Strength. If I use my inner strength, intuition, and imagination instead of being a workhorse, I can achieve success on my blog. The unicorn represents the magical and mystical, which I need to bring back into my work.
Queen of Hearts: The Queen of Hearts is a sweet, loving a kind woman who is protective of those around her. She trusts her intuition and is open to new ideas. Her love embraces the entire universe. In this reading, she represents Doe Deere herself (obviously) and asks you to think and feel as she does. Perhaps if I take an attitude of professional quality and form relationships with my readers I will become a blogging superstar!

At the Enchanted Forest Yard Sale yesterday, we had a guest vendor, Ruben selling sunglasses and guy's shirts. It attracted quiet a few new customers that normally pass our shop up. We had a whole new set up with clothes on hangers strung throughout the trees, the 8-Track player blasting Spaced Out Disco, posters displayed and decorations everywhere! People were showing up from our online advertisements, yay! I sold my whole stock of Tinkerbelle shirts and lots of items from my new purse section! All in all, I made three dollars!

Then, Chris English showed up for a tarot reading and paid me with a HUGE bag of candy...he also used his gift card to get a black bow tie! The yard sale was starting to die down, and leaves had fallen all over the merchendise, so we started to pack up. Afterwards, we sorted through the candy which had some amazing varieties: charms gum, bite size candy bars, halloween nerds, cotton candy blow pops, reese's cups, lime green vampire fangs, lollipops, twizzlers, rings, and so much more!

Speaking of candy, click here to listen to a playlist I made with sweet techno. Afterwards, I had a birthday party to attend for my cousin! It was so cute, with Lisa Frank plates and purple cups and a piñata! My gradmother showed up and gave me a present, too! In a Tinkerbell bag was a scarf, tights and gloves. How wonderful... I ate a piece of birthday cake to top off my fabulous day.
