All our products are made to order from scratch using the very best quality ingredients. We have never, and will never, use cake mixes
or ready-made cakes, unlike most commercial bakeries and many
independent bakers! Whilst we take pride in supplying our customers with exactly what they
want, we DO NOT make slagroomtaarts or any other Dutch type cakes and cannot use fillings/icings that require refridgeration - sorry!
It really is never too early to place your order - we will take orders up to 12 months in advance! Some months can fill with amazing speed, especially during the peak wedding season (April-October). We will take last minute orders if our schedule allows, but they still require a minimum amount of notice (see each category below for details).
Cupcakes/Cookies etc - please try to give us at least 1-2 weeks notice - however a minimum of 2-3 days for cupcakes maybe sufficient if design required and our schedule allows. Cookies MUST be ordered at least 1 week in advance to allow time for decoration, drying and packaging.
Celebration cakes (including cupcake cakes) - please try to order your cake at least 2-4 weeks* in advance. However, if you have less time we still require at least 3 full days notice for celebration cakes, and a full 48 hours for pull-apart (cupcake) cakes. The more complicated/decorated your desired design is, the more notice that is recommended. If your event falls during wedding season (May-Oct), the earlier you book the better, as we frequently have to turn away orders at this time! We will take celebration cake orders up to 12 months in advance and you will benefit from the current pricing at time of ordering (a non-refundable retainer of approximately 1/3 of the cake price will be required to hold your date).
Dessert Tables/Buffets - We require at least 4 weeks notice for these, due to the possible extra time needed to source the items needed. The earlier you can book these the better, as they will take up a large portion of time on our schedule.
Rich Fruit cakes - made from our own delicious combination of top-quality dried & candied fruits (raisins, sultanas, apricots, prunes, cherries, blueberries, cranberries etc), fresh lemon & orange zest, and steeped in lots of alcohol (if you do not drink alcohol, we will use tea & orange juice instead!), for several days before baking, these benefit greatly from a maturing period (where we continue to feed the cake with even more alcohol!), so we ask that you try to order these ideally at least 2-3 months ahead of time, but recommend a minimum of 6 weeks in advance.
Wedding Cakes - please try to order these at least 3 months in advance, as we will usually only make a maximum of 2 smaller/simpler wedding cakes per week, and only 1 wedding cake if the cake is large and/or labour intensive. However, if your cake is simple and small, we maybe able to take it with 2-4 weeks notice, but this is not recommended if you want to secure your date! Plenty of notice means that we can make or purchase any necessary decorations in good time, and that we can reserve the time required to complete you cake. A 50% non-refundable retainer is required at time of signing your contract to secure the date you require for your cake. Payment of the balance due is required NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS before the date of your event - no exceptions!
