Queenie's Cakes

Home of British Baking

Please note that we will be closed to orders from 15th July - 31st July 2009. Orders maybe placed for pick up/collection up to and including 14th July and then again from 1st August, but please check our calendar for availability! General enquiries & orders may be made during the period we are closed, and we will answer your enquiry as soon as we can (usually within 48 hours). We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

Here at Queenie's Cakes we specialise in custom-made British/American style cakes and are based in Den Haag in The Netherlands. We are unable to ship our cakes to other countries, but we create decorated cookies that can be sent anywhere in the world! When you order a cake or cookies from us, you are commissioning an edible piece of art, and our British cake artist & pastry chef is dedicated to fulfilling your every sweet wish! To maintain the attention to detail and quality of our cakes we are limited to the number of orders we can take per week, so please check the availability calendar for your required date. Ja, wij verstaan Nederlands (maar spreken het niet zo goed!). U kunt uiteraard in het Nederlands bellen of e-mailen als u dat liever doet!

What can you expect from us?

All our products are made to order from the very best quality ingredients. We have never, and will never use cake mixes or ready-made frozen cakes, unlike most commercial bakeries and many independent bakers! Everything is made from scratch and all our products are trans fat free. We take pride in supplying you with what you want*, when you want it, no order is too big or too small! (*we are unable to provide you with the Dutch type cream-filled cakes as these are not stable enough to be kept at room temperature for long periods, and many of our decorations cannot be refridgerated - sorry!)

SUGGESTED LEAD TIMES

ORDERS PLACED 48 HOURS OR LESS BEFORE IT'S REQUIRED ARE SUBJECT TO A MINIMUM OF A 20 EURO RUSH FEE (THE BIGGER THE ORDER THE HIGHER THE FEE WILL BE). WE WILL ONLY TAKE ON YOUR LATE ORDER IF OUR EXISTING SCHEDULE ALLOWS US SUFFICIENT TIME TO COMPLETE THE WORK REQUIRED (please check the availability calendar). OUR SCHEDULE CAN FILL UP FAST, SO WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!

Cupcakes/Cookies etc Try to give at least 1-2 weeks notice. Decorated sugar cookies must be ordered at least 1 week in advance to allow time for decoration, drying and packaging.

Celebration cakes
(including cupcake cakes) - please try to give us at least 2-4 weeks notice (we may, however, be able to fulfil your order with less notice, please contact us and ask!). The more complicated the design you want (such as modelled figures etc), and the larger the number of servings you need, the more notice we require.

Rich Fruit cakes - made from our own delicious combination of top-quality dried & candied fruits (raisins, sultanas, apricots, prunes, cherries, blueberries, cranberries etc), fresh lemon & orange zest, and steeped in whiskey & Drambuie liqueur (tea-totallers may choose a blend of tea & orange juice instead! for several days before baking, these benefit greatly from a maturing period, so we ask that you try to order these at least 3 months ahead of time.

Wedding Cakes please try to order these 3-6 months in advance, as we will only make a maximum of 2 wedding cakes a week (1 mid-week cake (Mon-Thurs) and 1 weekend cake (Fri-Sun), to ensure high quality and precise detail. If your wedding date is during the peak wedding season (May-September) it is advisable to contact us as soon as you start planning your wedding - you can check our wedding page to check our current availability for wedding cakes in 2009.  Plenty of notice means that we can make or purchase any necessary decorations in good time, and that we can turn down other cakes due on your wedding date. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at time of signing your contract to secure the date you require for your cake. Payment of the balance due is required NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS before the date of your event - no exceptions! Design consultation and tasting appointments for your wedding cake can be arranged - please see our wedding page for details.
