Quads were first developped on the North American continent and came forth of a 3 wheel all terrain vehicle called ATV's. They soon became the ideal means of transportation in the vast plains of the North American continent and by all kinds of weather conditions.The warmer winters of the recent years made the classical snowscooter less popular and they were often replaced by a quad, resulting in a still growing market.
