Maintenance:

  • Use a good heavy gear lube in your transmission. Make sure the lube is GL-4 rated, GL-5 lubricants can be corrosive to bearings in the transmission. We have had good luck with Sta-Lube 140W GL-4 lube.  You can get it from NAPA in 1 gallon containers for about $15. Part # is SL24238.
  • Grease your bearings often.  A few pumps of grease can keep you from having to change a bearing and could even save a trip from disaster!
  • Change your engine oil.
  • Check your spark plugs before each run.  Onan reccomends your plugs be gapped at 0.025".
  • Battery not working? Check that alternator!  If your car is running and not making 12.5 volts or more, your alternator is not charging!
  • Check your wheels for thickness and profile, you would be amazed at what a difference new wheels make.
