Lazio table football club has become official member of S.S. Lazio, one of the greatest multisport organisation in Europe and the greatest in Italy thus opening avenues before unthinkable to subbuteo players. S.S. Lazio includes over 1000 athletes and every discipline under the sun from ping pong to badmington. Lazio tfc has now become S.S. Lazio tfc. An official statement was released on the 5th of January:
Following the release of the modified chart, unanimously approved by
S.S. Lazio general council, which took place last night at the Tennis
Club in the Italic Forum, Rome, Lazio tfc is pleased to announce its
entry in the S.S. Lazio Polisportiva. Lazio tfc thanks the following:
General President Antonio Buccioni who followed the membership request
from its incept, the newly elected Honorary President Prof.Avv.
Emmanuele Francesco Maria Emanuele and all the members of the general
council who with pioneer spirit have given trust and credit to the Lazio
table football club project.
2008 started with the expected low turn out as everyone gets their life back into gear. However it was an enjoable night all the same with Lazio's Paolo Barone winning the event. Key match of the night was Barone vs Victor Jones with the former edging out the unlucky "fixturesmeister" who hit the post but could not find the way on goal. When a first half goal for the Italian was dubiously disallowed, for claims of a fourth touch, Barone soon scored half a minute later on the following throw from the right flank. The game was evenly matched and the Lazio player had to use all his tricks to keep the Huntingdon winner at bay. Both players had won all other matches so it was a sort of mini final.

The european champion with Black & Blue Pisa beat dutch Verhagen 2-1 in the final.

the Lazio youngster retained the Under 12 Italian cup for the second consecutive year while Lazio junior team on its debut reached the final in the Primavera section beating Italian champions Perugia on their way only to be defeated by Napoli Fighters on goal difference by a single goal after the match had ended 1-1. To be noticed also a violation of rules from the Napoli fighters staff who invaded the marked surrounding space with the intent to affect players concentration and the final had to be briefly interrupted and reported by the referee. Not entirely a new case of such a behaviour in Italy, however Lazio tfc did file a complaint to the Italian federation, the outcome of which we might never know...you be the judge.
David Russell wins Event 4 and virtually secures the Championship too with wins over Paolo Barone (1-0) and Victor Jones (4-0).

Well done to Nicky's boys for doing it again and continue their rise to World summit. There was no real contestant for the team captained as usual by Eric Verhagen. Even fielding a below par team was enough to sail through the Open unchallenged. EPL put up a fight in the final but the european semifinalist just proved too strong.

Meanwhile also of notice, San Siro, captained by World No.1 ranking player, Eric Verhagen, had eliminated title holders Napoli in the quarter finals.

This experiment has been possible with invaluble help of Victor Jones, "my man in Havana", who has allowed me to keep up to date with scores. Tomorrow, for the team event, it will be a little more difficult as I will be in Cardiff myself. However I hope to be able to relay result logging in from my laptop as soon as possible.
11th October 2007 The Putney League restarts with a new system (explained here) and renewed purpose.
In a night where everybody beat everybody, Dave Russell edged out Simon Gale on one single goal difference! Russell beats Barone (1-0), Barone beats Gale (2-0), Gale beats Russell (2-1). However Barone failure to find the target (0-0) against John Phillips cost him the lead in the end. Huntingdon Champion Victor Jones could not find any form and lost his first two games to Gale (4-0) and Russell (3-0) before eventually finding his first win against Andrew Care. John Phillips was on form tonight with 2 wins and a draw going on equal points with Barone.
In a last minute blow to the tournament organisers, favorite Black & Blue Pisa, which fields World Champion Daniele Bertelli in their ranks, pulled out of the competition. However the competition which is due to take place this coming weekend, still has plenty to offer with super team San Siro (UK), Real Murcia (Spa) and Atlas (Gre) as favorites. Lazio tfc of Italy is also on its way to the Welsh capital.

Season 8
David Russell wins what proved the most exciting Putney League to date by edging out Victor Jones on the last Event of the season. This season was lead at different times by Paolo Barone, Victor Jones and David Russell. However with the departure of Barone it was left to Jones to contest the Season 7 Champion. And so it proved with Jones narrowingly missing final victory on a final event which saw ex UK Champion David Russell overtaking Jones on the finishing line. A season to remember for sure but one that leaves with great hopes for the future too !

Italian international and former World Champion Bolognino won the International Grand Prix of Naple 2007 by defeating current World Champion Daniele Bertelli 5-1 in the final. Perugia won the team event by defeating Napoli 5-4 on a golden goal.
first pics added to the site, more to come. Scansano 07
Daniele Bertelli is the new World Champion by defeating England's Kasper Bennett by a single goal. Well done to both. Daniele Bertelli had twice been Under 19 World Champion and this is finally the crowning of a long chase. Renzo Frignani is World Champion in the Veterans Category while Stefano Buono is the new Under 19 Champion. Ruben Portuguese is Under 15 Champion while the Under 12 competition was won by Matthew Pace who survived an early defeat by Diego Tagliaferri in the qualifiers.Francoise Guyot won in the ladies section.
Firenze's Vittorio Nicchi wins the Torneo di Scansano 2007. The First tournament to be set in this idillic setting saw a good partecipation and great atmosphere in what was a non ufficial tournament. With Hampers for trophies competition was still tough. A restaurant dinner at the local Rifrullo restaurant , payed for by the organisers
, broke off the evening before play was resumed at the quarter final stages.
Final
Nicchi - Cionfi 6 - 2
more results to come including pictures of the event.
The 10th of August the beautifully situated town of Scansano, rich in history and beautiful setting will host a friendly tournament were players will be treated to good games and good food & wine too, in fact a banquet will follow the tournament. Top tuscanian player Firenze's Nicchi will be the favourite with Cionfi and young Diego Tagliaferri also contenders.

Spanish Asociacion Murciana led by Valverde and Granados beat belgian Hennuyer 2 - 1 to win the 2007 London Open.
In the semis Murciana had beaten English San Siro 1 - 0 while Hennuyer defeated Italians Pisa 2 -1
New surroundings but a year gone by the London Open is here again. Thanks to the timely organising of duo Les Commons/John Brand the tournament was as smashing as ever, with a nice fresh hall, san siro pitches and local shops nearby to provide midday energy supplies.
Groups of three were formed with second contestant (and some winners) playing barrage on their way to next round. The tournament went pretty much as expect with the Bertelli Brothers reaching the semis with only Verhagen in their path. It was the younger of the two, Daniele to play the World Number One seed in the final. In the final twice Under 19 World Champion proved too strong for the much travelled Verhagen, final score: Bertelli D. - Verhagen 4 - 1
In the plate, Martinelli beat plate veteran Nicky Chappell on shots.( he always loses on shots
, poor old Nicky.)
A great fun event, thanks ever so much to the organisers, see you all next year !
A photographic album of the event will be coming soon with lots of pics, hold your breath fellas, you're all in here, caught in the act !

We suspect as much, if anything is to be deduced from FISCT (Federazione Italiana Sport Calcio Tavolo) new rule book. "Under the responsability of the Club Chairman all athletes are recognised fit to perform promotional or agonistic sport and hold a valid medic certificate and that all the members of the Managing Board have the necessary requirements to hold such positions." Whatttt ? Have they really lost the plot, it basically states that if an athlete injuries himself and he or she does not hold a medical certificate the Club Chairman is responsible and goes straight to jail, basically.
The lunacy continues "I declare to have read the policy rules from article 13 D.lgt. N°196 del 30.06.2003 and agree, according to Article 23 and 24 of the same decree that the members details can be comunicated and treated under the notes of the previous policy". Basically they can use the members details in any way they see fit, including selling the information on to a third party.
Of course wether the Italian Federation has a leg to stand on legally with these legislation is another matter entirely but it does impress the sheer front of the whole thing.
On the basis of this ruling some Italian club are already pondering to migrate to another federation, ESTFA perhaps ? There, at least, there's no rules at all !

The Yorkshire Satellite took place on Sunday the 24th of June in Wakefield. The Putney platoon all made it to the barrage with the exception of Malc Dickson who went out on the first round and Rob O'Hare who went out in the last sixteen. Steve Bennett was the eventual winner beating fresh UK Champ Mike Burns 1-0 in the final, however the surprise package of the day turned out to be John Turpin who's unexpected run of form and smooth play took many players by surprise and left them in tears contemplating suicide.

Putney Subbuteo Club was formed in January 2004, by a group of former Subbuteo players looking for a competitive return to the game in the West-London area. We meet fortnightly on Monday's at The Community Church located close to Putney High Street and only a couple of minutes walk from both East Putney Underground (District Line) and Putney main-line station's. In October 2006, the club moved away from its traditional league format to incorporate a Swiss-Table system, which we hope will encourage more players to join the league, either on a full-time or ad-hoc basis. Because of the flexibility of the new league format, new players are welcome to join the club at any time and indeed come along for a few friendly matches to pick the game up again or to put some practice in ahead of a tournament.
