 Who’s behind the station?

A 47 year old Kiwi with a mild case of mid-life crisis and a massive amount of local rock music (for want of a pigeon hole for my taste)

Cutting to the chase, most of the ‘local content’ being played on commercial radio is a load of crap.

So here we are.

What sort of stuff do you play?

Alternative Kiwi Music, by and large of the guitar driven variety.

Now & again something else does slip through the cracks and ends up being aired.   

This is not the place to hear mainstream, rap, folk, dub, reggae etc even if it is 'made in New Zealand'.

What’s in it for you?    

Nothing financially from the music.

Now and again I sell some record cleaning stuff and books as a result of listeners stumbling upon this site, but by and large it’s a charity show. 

I survive on the evangelical pleasures of spreading the good word.

Who can tune in?

If you can read this you can listen, and that includers 56ers.

There's a two minute,one-off registration process at live365 and then it's free to air FM quality listening.

Tell us about the format.

I’ve got a bank of 250 songs on-line at any point going to air in a random 'shuffle' mode.

You get to see the artist/song/album playing plus you get to vote for the songs you like/dislike.

Voting for your fav song acts as an instant form of listener feedback and gives me an idea of what to play and what to scrub.

If you hear something you like – go out and buy it!

*Pure NZ Alt Radio is in no way related to the New Zealand Tourism Board, it’s a one man band run out of a study in deepest, darkest Christchurch.

*All broadcasters on live365 pay royalties and that includes me. If you are an artist who objects to your songs getting airplay - it's no skin off my nose taking them off the air. It's your call.     

*Having this site gave me an excuse to 'air to the world' some of the gig posters I've accumulated over the last 25 years. I had them laminated so they would be preserved for time immemorial. That and the fact they reside on my study walls, roof etc accounts for some dodgy digital photo's.
