         Colleen Caffeine

Colleen Caffeine is the vocalist of Detroit city punk band, Choking Susan.

They are a 4 piece hard - Glam type of punk group, who cite their influences

as The Ramones and Johnny Thunders amongst others. They recently

released a cd called "Louder and Harder" , which is an excellent album and

contains the brilliant tracks such as "Baby Doll" and "Fallling Round"

among others. After building up a fan base locally , Choking Susan are now

concentrating on expanding their touring ground and included England and

Europe over the last few years. Now recieving rave reviews in the music press

things look on the up and up for this foursome. You can check out Colleen

and the rest of the band on www.chokingsusan.com , where if you go to the

site , you can see more pictures, listen to more music and even join Colleen

on her personal myspace page (If she likes you).

Person you hate the most dead or alive; I hate people, I don't want to

know anyone ! People are evil little demons that are just out to kill,

crush and destroy each other. People break hearts, use you for your body,

leave the next morning , forgetting to close the door behind them, so the

cat gets out and is lost forever........people are cat losers !

it's music we're talking about) , but in general anyone that has given their

                         CockSParrer.

These 5 Cockneys are after being all over the world and Dagenham

and still come back home to London , where it all began and where

they all still live. In a music industry thats littered with, fall outs

court cases and hate amongst a good few bands on the scene , it's

great to see these 5 geezers still being friends as well as band mates.

Thats probably one of the things thats kept SParrer going all these

years, one in - all in. With SParrer playing less than they used to,

their gigs are always sellouts and you can see the way the line up

compliments each other, Colin on vocals, loud , in your face, singing

every word as if it was etched on his heart, Micky and Daryl on lead

and rhythm guitars and Steve banging out the beats on drums. But a

special mention must go to Steve Burgess on bass guitar , who wrote

most of the CockSParrer songs that we all have come to know and love.

I always love watching the crowd reaction at concerts and you wont get

much better than when "England Belongs To Me" is being performed

which will have a few thousand punks and skins singing every word in

the song in unison with the band. The words that were scribbled down

on the back of a beermat or on a scrap of paper while on a tour bus after

Steve would have seen or heard something are now part of every punks

and skins life. There's not a day will go by without some of us , somewhere

around the globe putting on a SParrer cd and singing along to such classics

as , Get A Rope ,  Argy Bargy, Last Train...., Where Are They Now and

many , many more. So have a look at what the boys think of life , and check

out the CockSParrer site at www.cocksparrer.co.uk , but either way, as they

titled their new DVD , "What You See, Is What You Get"

Name; CockSParrer.

Country; UK.

Band/Occupation; Colin McFaull - Lead Vocals, Steve Burgess - Bass

and Vocals, Micky Beaufoy - Lead Guitar, Steve Bruce - Drums and

Vocals and Daryl Smith - Guitar and Vocals.

Favourite food; Bacon eggs and tinned tomatoes and Sunday roast

with beer and gravy.

Favourite drink; Lots !.............. Beer and wine.

Favourite place visited; Upton Park - For obvious reasons!

Worst place visited; Upton Park - For obvious reasons.

Favourite film; Too difficult........but Will thinks it has to be The

Great Escape.

Favourite soccer team; West Ham  (3) - Colin, and the 2 Steve's

Arsenal (1) - Micky , Watford (1) - Daryl.

Favourite song of your own; "Because Your Young" (3) - Colin and

the 2 Steve's,  "England Belongs To Me" - Daryl , and

"Runnin Riot" - Micky.

Favourite song of all time; There are loads of bands/songs and we

could have fought over this for ages, but when it comes down to the

ones that made a difference and actually started change and

influenced others, it has to be, in no particular order,

Babylons Burning by The Ruts, What Do I get by The Buzzcocks,

plus anything by The Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, oh and

of course CockSParrer.

Worst ever song; The Birdie Song.

Favourite other punk band/singer; The Clash/Joe Strummer.

Best ever gig; Morecambe 2001 & 2003, CBGB's and San

Francisco in 2000 and The Gross Freiheit, Hamburg. (Where we broke

Motorheads long standing record of the most beer drunk by a band -

"Bleedin Lightweights!")

Worst ever gig; Some of the early ones in '76/'77, where we were too

pissed, the PA didn't work or sometimes people just didn't show up.

But since 1992 , they have all been great.

Person you hate most dead or alive; Most politicians.

Person you admire most dead or alive; The people we admire most are

the ones that keep the scene alive. The promoters that take a chance,

the labels who believe in the bands, the websites and fanzines run by the

real fans. People like Darren Russell (Who gives the old bands a reason

to play every year and the new bands a chance to get on the bill) or Mark

Brennan , (Who has been passionate about the music for so long), or

Rebecca Pollard ( For the brilliant Punk & Oi web-site), have all helped

to keep the scene alive.

Person you would most like to meet; The  man who gives out the big

winning lottery cheques.

Music you hate the most; Rap !

Biggests regrets in life; Too few to mention.

Nmae 3 things that piss you off;

1/ Licensing laws.

2/Speed cameras.

3/ Lack of mainstream music press interest in Punk/Oi.

What would you do if you won the lottery; We actually won the lottery

last week, but what can you do with £10 ?

Colin, Steve, Micky, Steve, Daryl......................18/06/05

                       Jamie Jezzard (ANWL)

Press play to hear "Dirty Old Fucker" by The ANWL

Jamie or Jez as he likes to be known is the guitarist with that crazy

band The Anti Nowhere League. In his spare time he's a record

collector . But what ever any of ye' do, never go near his "White

Baby" , thats his guitar, of which he's over protective and very proud!

Jez, lives in Tonbridge as well as Shady , while PJ and Animal live

in Tunbridge Wells about 8 miles down the road from them. From

watching the band doing sound checks I know that Jez is the most

particular of them all, and he is fanatical as to how his guitar sounds

while he's on the stage. Jez though is one of the good guys in a music

industry littered with wasters and wankers, he's the salt of the earth and

always has time for the fans before and after a gig. You can check out Jez

                                        Chris Wright

Chris Wright is the lead singer with that strret punk band Crashed Out.

a tattoo studio along with his brother Lee , and they have tattoo'd many punk

rock artists as well as fans with punk tattoo's some of which can be seen on our

on their much acclaimed cd "Back For More" . Chris who was a boxer in his early

                       Hazel O' Connor

Press play to hear "Eight Day" by Hazel O' Connor.

Hazel O' connor is one of life's and punk's survivors. She has seen it

all, been ripped off , saw the fame, the hard times, the rejections and still

is touring and selling out shows in the UK and Europe. I remember the first

time I saw Hazel was on a late night movie review programme on TV back

in 1980. I was mesmerised and totally loved her music and her stlye. Her

debut single "Eight Day" made it to number 5 in the UK national charts,

as did her album "Breaking Glass" , which stayed on the charts for 37

weeks. Hazel though in the late 80's took time out from the music scene

and moved back to Ireland to recharge her batteries and even sang on a

charity single released in Ireland in aid of The womens rape Crisis centre.

Now back touring again and playing to fans old and new, she sang at The

Wasted festival in Morecambe in 2004 and her set was voted the best of

the festival , as she turned back the years and sang as if she and all of us

were back in 1980. She followed that up the next night with an unplugged set

which had 700 punks sitting in total awe and silence as she sang her way through

another brilliant repetoire on the night. You can check out Hazel and where she's

playing on her website on www.hazeloconnor.com

3/ Lack of veggie food generally , but particularly at motorway service

station, on trains and on planes.

What would you do if you won the lottery; Replace the roof on my cottage,

employ a gardener to regularly cut the grass and help do the jobs that need

doing that I can't do while I'm away on tour. Employ a cleaner to clean my

cottage so I don't have to, otherwise I would carry on much as I am now but

with a nice secure financial cushion.

          GARY BUSHELL

Mr. "Oi" - Gary Bushell (AKA Gal Gonad)

Gary Bushell is synonomous with Oi and punk. In times past when punk

was starting to flounder because the headliners like The Pistols and The

Clash were not of any interest to the mainstream media , one guy kept

his finger on the pulse, kept  talking about and writing about punk and

skinhead bands when no one else did. It was this man , who I would term

as the founder of Oi , Gary Bushell. Everyone that visits this site and reads

this owes him a debt of thanks.  In between pissing people off , drumming

up support for Punk & Oi bands , Gary sings with the infamous punk band

The Gonads , and also is a television critic. He has wrote countless books ,

including official autobiographies for Ozzy Ozbourne , Iron Maiden , twisted

Sister and Stinky Turner of The Cockney Rejects. He concieved the idea for

and compiled the first 4  "Oi " albums. The Gonads have a new album  out

soon , check out their website www.the-gonads.co.uk or their myspace

site www.myspace/thegonads , or even Gary's own personal myspace page

at www.myspace.com/galgonad , so go and check him out, and if you get a

chance check out The Gonads at a gig near you, you'll be guaranteed a

crazy fun night and most likely be entertained by some of The Rejects or

The Business , well depending who Gary brings along with him that night.

                    Max Splodge

Max goes classical at an after gig party in Newcastle

One of the craziest guys ever to emerge from the punk scene , Max or

Mad Max , call him whatever you will , he's a stayer. A man who has seen

the ups and downs of music, the hard times and good times, but he's still out

there taking the piss out of life and enjoying it while he does so. He had the

unfortunate Rolf Harris in tears on national radio when the Aussie heard the

punk version of "Two Little Boys". Most of you that have been to the Wasted

Festivals will have seen Max pull off another coup. Who else could get four or

five hundred punks into a hall and get them to play bingo. Yes only one man ,

Max and he has made the punk bingo sessions an integral part of the fastivals.

The only problem I have with Max is when he called the band Splodgenessabounds

because back in 1980 I went into the toilets of my then local and in protest at the

lack of punk songs on the jukebox, I sprayed the aforementioned bands name on

the walls of the toilet. The only problem was it took 3 walls of the toilet and  a few

minutes to do so, resulting in me being caught and barred.  Besides those distant

memories I have many more recent ones of Max and am amazed at his sheer

enthusiasm for life and how he always see's the best in everyone and everything.

As he said to me recently , there are enough songs about hate and violence out

there, thats why I try to write happy songs or ones that make people laugh. You'll

definetly get a laugh out of Max if you get a chance to go to one of his gigs. If you

can't well check out max and the rest of the Splodge crew at

www.splodgenessabounds.com

Rebbeca Pollard - Punk & Oi.

Rebecca Pollard , or Beccy as I call her is the life blood of many a punks or

skins life as she continues to give thousands of us news and information that

we would otherwise not be able to keep up to date with. Beccy runs the worldwide

famous Punk site , "Punk & Oi UK" www.punkoiuk.co.uk and her site is held in

such esteem by those in the punk music industry that the bands themselves use it

for refernce and information. She is such an addition to the scene that at festivals

like wasted hundreds and hundreds of people would be saying what they saw on the

site as they talked to each other , while most doing so would not recognise her while

they were doing so and true to form and possibly to help her keep her annominity she

has requested that we use this picture of her when she was 14 years old. I have many

heroes in the punk scene for all different reasons , but to me , Beccy is my ultimate

hero , my ambassador of "Quonn" , the link in the chain that keeps us all going.

Name; Rebecca Pollard.

Country; England, but do have dual nationality and citizenship for new Zealand as well.

Band/Occupation; Internet all the way baby (Owner of Punk & Oi Uk - Ed.)

Favourite food; Pavlova with passion fruit , yum!

Favourite drink; Cider , Peach Schnapps and poncy cocktails if I could afford them.

Favourite place visited; Sydney , Australia. Beautiful city, plenty to do, great weather,

friendly people, un pc and laid back oh and the most fabolous cakes, what more can a

girl want.

Worst place visited; East Germany in the 70's and 80's. So, so grey and oppresive.

Favourite film; This is where I should be saying something cool like "Clockwork Orange"

but the book is so much better. But I am afraid it is "Labarinth" with David Bowie...mmm

Favourite soccer team; Next question , not a sports fan , though I do Muay Thai Boxing.

Favourite song of your own; Ha, ha, how did you know that there are a dozen or so

songs that I have written over the years. I am glad to say that none of them have seen

the light of day.

Favourite song of all time; Probably "Anarchy In The UK" - Sex Pistols , as it still

raises hairs on the back of my neck after all this time.

Worst ever song; Motorhead "Ace Of Spades" , I have been known to leave the bar

when bands cover it, which they frequently do.

Favourite other punk band/singer; Is this strictly on a professional level or just the

singer I like most ?......Either way I'm keeping schummm.

Best ever gig; My wedding earlier in 2005, where Drongos For Europe, Dead Pets,

Menace, Goldblade, Cockney Gonads (Gal Gonad singing Gonad songs while being

backed by the Rejects) and Abrasive Wheels , all the bands played a blinder. Also

earlier HITS festivals were always special when it was all in the Dome, as was Punk

Aid 2004 , brilliant atmosphere. Seeing One Way System with 5 out of 6 singers has

been something too. And I will always remember seeing Crashed Out at a youth club

in Rochdale where the average age was 13/14 - excellent ! I am afraid to say bands

that it is often the atmosphere above anything else that makes an average gig a

memorable one.

Worst ever gig; Probably blanked from my mind , but I don't like it when bands just

appear to be going through the motions....you know who you are !

Person you hate most dead or alive; I dont hate anyone , but I do get annoyed by

people that think they are always right (So I don't know how I can live with

myself ha, ha) and people who lack compassion infuriate me big style. People who

take advantage of other peoples misfortune are also intolerable as are bullies.

Person you admire most dead or alive; People who are survivors , people who

make things happen. I dont believe in having idols though.

Person you would most like to meet; Not really bothered. I take each day in my

stride and if I meet people I respect , thats great , if I don't, well I am sure that I

will meet plenty of otehr interesting people along the way.

Music you hate the most; Any music without passion or energy.

Biggest regret in life; Not a regret as such, but I do sometimes wonder what would

have happened if I had continued at art college. I do believe that I will move back to

a more creative area at some point when I get time , so all is not lost. I also wonder

what would have happened if I had not made the move out of Bradford when I did.

Certainly not a regret , as most of my then mates got into heroin.

Nmae 3 things that piss you off;

1/ People not being treated as individuals.

2/ Injustice.

3/ On a lighter note (Pardon the pun) - not being able to sing.

What would you do if you won the lottery; Hire a special plane with medical

supervision, so my mother could be flown out to her family in New Zealand

and hire specialists, to make the rest of her days more bearable. Also retire

from my day job and move into music and photography but enjoy having some

time for myself , instead of working a combination of 70 hours each week

between my daytime job and running Punk & Oi in the Uk Ltd., and help

caring for my mother.
