Site Tips
Hopefully these tips help you make your site even better. :D
1.)Think of a cute name that people will like and that you'd like to call your site. Don't make it extremely long that people won't be able to remember it. Also, try to stay away from all the "-", "_" and "x" that can be hard to remember if you have too many. Keep it short, simple & unique. If you need help brainstorming a good site name visit the sitenamer I have.
2.)Start making your own dolls and graphics so other people can use them too. If you make your own cute graphics and distribute them more and more people will want to come to your site. Always put effort to make them good-looking, and hey-put yourself in a visitors place. Would you use the graphic?
3.)Be creative and original and put things in your site that other people don't usually have. For example, many sites aren't distributing dolls with codes. You can put up dolls that you make with a code on them! :D
4.)Never ever tell anyone personal details such as the address you live in, where you attend school at, your last name, or anything that may attract stalkers or internet predators. It's great to make friends when having a site, but always becareful. Try to stay with your age-range.
5.) Sign up at a free host site like Freewebs, Geocities or any good host! :)
6.) Try to stay away from putting music on your site. Sure, I love sites that have music, but not everyone has the same taste in music. However, if you do put a song, make sure that the music player is visible just in case anyone wants to pause it, or anything. Music can always be a plus that attracts visitors or it can be bad where visitors are annoyed and leave.
7.) Make a cute layout. The thing visitors love to see the most is a cute layout. If your layout is pretty, than so are your graphics. Put effort and use nice colors like adding colors that are cute and match with your css code. If you don't have any idea on what color to make, some sites have color palettes where you can get a better idea on what you'd like to use.
8.) Put contests on your site. Everyone loves contests. You could put a SOTM, LOTM or Doll Contest. More and more visitors come to your site when people join these contests. Don't put too many contestants because it may be to overwhelming.
9.) Getting visitors can be a little hard. Sometimes people don't visit your site back. First, make sure they have updated recently, not a billion years ago, you won't get a comment back, lol. Also don't try the "cool site plz visit mine!". I personally don't visit sites when they do that. You need to browse around there site, and comment on what you like! :) Don't expect to get a billion of comments and visitors the first day you open. It may take time. Make siblings, affiliates and friends. :) You'll always get more visitors if you meet new people.
10.) Also link yourself on graphics. If someone steals you can prove it with your link, but if you don't..that's bad. People can steal your graphics and claim them as theirs. Always put your site name on signs or any big graphic. Don't put a huge credit on something small like icons, or scribbles or backgrounds. I know you wouldn't use a background that said "Pugly" a thousand times on it. Also, don't put your complete site address on your graphics, because it can be a real pain if you ever move. You never know if your host will close *cough, cough* matmice *cough, cough* so be alert, by just crediting your site like I do, (c) Pugly.
