PT (personal training) Horse and Rider is all about fitness for horse and rider, whether it’s competing, happy hacking or generally having a healthy lifestyle. 

Personal Training sessions can be combined with riding lessons. You will be taught how to ride more efficiently and correctly, concentrating on the classical seat. Sessions can also include a fitness program for the horse & a training session so you as the rider will get fitter.

The goal of each rider should be to achieve 'one-ness' with your horse. ‘One-ness’ may not necessarily have the same meaning for everyone but it would be agreed that the feeling of ‘one-ness’ would come from coordination, balance and communication that come when you and your horse are on the same wavelength. To ride at the best you can, muscles, joints, coordination, balance and the brain must all be working efficiently, not only with the rider but also with the horse. Fitness can prevent injury and alleviate all the aches and pains that seem to be associated with riding to some degree.

I first came into combining riding and fitness about 1999. I had moved from riding a 14.hh cob to 17.3hh Hanoverian. Riding was a slight struggle as you can imagine but physically and mentally I could not cope, so I started at the Gym and other various sports to improve my fitness for riding. I don’t think you can ever be too fit to ride.
