The "Ambien Trip" (Zolpidem Tartrate)
Ambien
is a sleep medication, frequently advertised on TV. Your mother takes
it. I'm amazed it's still around, as it is a very strong deleriant,
that doesn't necesarily knock you out like Dramamine or Benadryl,
allowing you to be more dangerous not lying in bed. The government and
doctors do not yet acknowledge the side effects of just twice to three
times the dose of Ambien as hallucinations, and delusions.
I
would say Ambien is a cross between a deleriant and a hallucinogen. You
might think that you're a spy on a mission ( I have ) and then you
might see Demons and know it's just the pills. (I have). You might
think that you're fucked up and you might believe what's going on.
Usually there's a little bit of both, in retrospect, you'll know.
Another
strange thing I've notcied about Ambien is that I don't remember what
happened unless I stay awake all night and into the next day when it's
worn off. It's not that tiring though, whether I sleep on Ambien or
stay awake, I feel oddly rested the next day. Ambien makes you
dehydrated so keep drinking. I also have done very illogical things.
(Run around shirtless, with a guitar with a broken string, SCREAMING at
cars driving by.)
I
am no longer allowed to take it because one night I called my mom from
my cell (she was just in the other room) and told her I called the
wrong person. She came in to investigate and called an ambulance. I was
insane, which was fine with me but she didn't know what was up. I tried
to go back in the house and bring a carton of cigs and a few DVD's to
the hospital but they wouldn't allow it. At the hospital, my resting
heart reate was 165 when admitted, and 135 when I left. I was THAT
worked up. During my stay, I asked the nurse if we were allowed to
smoke in the ER, ran from this doctor who mistakenly thought I was
suicidal, and tried to chew through my IV with out a doctor, real or
imagined, noticing me.
I
will say from my experiene, hallucinations on Ambien do not speak or
make any noise. The visuals are enough though. Delusions aren't very
visual, meaning you know what you see is fake, but you get delusional
ideas in your head, such as identity crisis. My script has been taken away. Dammit.
Good
luck with this one, and use it while it's still on the market, because
if this happens to too many people, it won't be there long.

Dimenhydrinate Hydrocloride (HCI)(Dramamine)
Brand Names - Dramamine, Dramamine II, Gravol
Street Names - Dramamine
Available Dose - Dramamine - 50 mg
General and Recreational Dimenhydrinate Notes -
Dimenhydrinate is most commonly
sold as a motion sickness medication under the name brand Dramamine,
although it is largely known to make users drowsy and thus is also
taken as a sleep aid. In over the counter medicines, the HCI, or
Hydrocloride, is the only type of the drug available. The
recreationally experience is rarely referred to as a high, and usual
referrenced as a 'trip'. In most persons, the psychoactive threshold is
felt after taking one or more tablets/doses of dimenhydrinate. More
common low dose recreational experiences are achieved after taking
about 400 mg, but in some individuals effects are not felt until 800 mg
or more have been consumed. 1200 mg (24 tablets) is the
highest dose that should really be consumed
recreationaly but a few users have reported taking up to 72 tablets.
(3600 mg). Some of these subjects were hospitalized.
It's worthy of noting that
there are at least 3 other drugs that have nearly the same effects as
Dimenhydrinate. Cyclizine HCI has about the same effects at equal doses
of Dimenhydrinate. Meclizine HCI and Diphenhydramine HCI (Benadryl)
have the safe effects at half the dose of Dimenhydriate and Cyclizine.
The major psychoactive effect
of Dimenhydrinate is the induction of realistic
delusions. Delusional beings can often carry on conversation
but they usually remain silent for the most part, allowing you to
do the talking. If the user touches them, nine times out of ten, they
disappear. The delusions are NOT to be confused with hallucinations,
and if you're looking for a psychedelic trip, you're going to be
majorally disappointed. These delusions are often so convincing the
user forgets he/she has taken anything and doesn't even notice anything
out of the ordinary. If a trip sitter is nearby, he will be able to
tell the tripper whether or not he appears to be delusional. Another
effect of Dimenhydrinate seems to be racing thoughts, or at least a
complete loss of linear thought. Often the user will be talking to a
pal (real or imagined) and will stop talking to ask their fellow
conversationalist to remind him what he was saying.
Sometimes the trippers
perception of the trip is completely different from anyone else around.
I've spent many a night thinking I tripped and had a wonderful
conversation with my sitter, only to find out the next day that (1) I
really spent my night with my face in my pillow mumbling, or (2) The
person I imagined present wasn't anywhere in the vicinity.
As far as hiding a Dramamine
trip from those around you, it's nearly impossible, especially at a
dose above 500 mg. One might find oneself constantly
saying "What did you say?", or something to that effect, only
to find no one has said anything. Usually the pill popper looks
exhausted, and sometimes he has bags under his eyes.
Side effects include excessive
drowsiness, nausea, increased heart rate, excessive urination,
vomiting, and chaos (trip gone bad or forgetting one is tripping at
all). The trip can be very confusing. The excessive drowsiness can
usually be combatted with caffeine or ephedra. About 200 mg of
caffeine, one pill or cup of coffee, should offset about 400 to 500 mg
of Dimenhydrinate. Many people find the experience unpleasant and never
try it again, but most people who try it will use it again, some fairly
regularly and others very sparingly.
You should NEVER use Dimenhydrinate if you are schizophrenic, pregnant, or have heart problems, or are prone to heart failure.
Diphenhydramine Hydrocloride (HCI) (Benadryl)
Brand Names - Benadryl, Sominex,
Street Names - Benadryl
Available Dose - Benadryl - 25 mg
-
Sominex - 50 mg
General and Recreational Diphenhydramine HCI Notes -
Diphenhydramine HCI has the
same effects as Dimenhydrinate HCI. The group of people who are
allergic to it, however, may be different. So if someone is allergic to
one but not another, they have alternatives. Another difference is
marketing of the two drugs. Benadryl is sold as an allergy medicine,
and Sominex as a sleep aid. Diphenhydramine is twice as potent as
Dimenhydrinate, meaning if you usually take Dramamine you only need
HALF THE DOSE of Benadryl or Sominex. The benifet of Benadryl is that
the capsules are 25 mg, so the number of tablets required for an
equivalant Dimenhydrinate trip is equal, thus, there is a lower
likelyhood of accidental overdose. The benifits of Sominex, is that you
need half the amount of capsules compared with Dramamine or Benadryl.
One 50 mg Sominex is equivalent with two 25 mg Benadryl or two
50 mg Dramamine.
For a full list of effects see "Dimenhydrinate Hydrocloride (HCI)" effects and side effects.
Meclizine Hydrocloride (HCI)
Brand Names
Street Names
Available Dose - 25 mg
General and Recreational Meclizine HCI Notes -
See "Diphenhydramine
Hydrocloride (HCI)" effects for full list. What is good for
Diphenhydramine is good for Meclizine. Potency ratio is 1:1. Meclizine
is also slightly harder to find over-the-counter than Diphenhydramine,
as is Cyclizine to Dimenhydrinate.
Nitrites (Amyl Nitirite, Butryl Nitirite, and Isopropyl Nitirite)
Brand Names - Rush
Street Names - Poppers
Available Dose - Inhaled
Street Price - Wide Range depending on location and legality $5 and up
General and Recreational Nitirite Notes -
Nitirites are some of the most interesting inhalents. They have quite a reputation as sexual enhancing drugs. They are used to prolong and enhance orgasms and are used fairly commonly in gay crowds or crowds of heterosexuals who visit sex shops. They are liquids sold in bottles. Right before an orgasm, a whiff is inhaled and held as long as possible. Upon exhaling, the user feels a head rush of euphoria and a feeling of extra body weight.
When used without sex or masturbation the drug causes a severe head rush and a rather pleasant rush of euphoric feelings that can last from seconds to five minutes. The drug is cheap and easy to use but if you spill the liquid you lose all of the chemical. "Poppers" are illegal in most states and are scheduled anyway. They are legal in a few countries and they are often brought into the U.S. by travelers and drug conesuiers.
