Epsilon BIOS Custom Flash Replacement For PSP

The team developing the Epslion BIOS custom replacement flash is claiming that this program will allow PSP owners to use homebrew software, run umd iso games from the memory stick on the latest firmware releases including the 2.71 firmware update, and still enjoy the built-in features to the OS such as WMA support and RSS feeds, among other things.

The Epsilon BIOS team can't release this program yet as they are still fixing some bugs and are still finalizing the modifications they made with the custom replacement flash that's been made to work with Undiluted Platinum (you need this to be installed in your psp
to use the Epsilon BIOS).

Features if this program in development include:

  • ability to launch homebrew software from the memory stick;
  • kernel mode access for software requiring this app;
  • support for 1.0 and 1.5 EBOOTs;
  • simple UMD ISO loading; and,
  • has own compressed ISO format.

The team developing this program stated that they will be releasing a video of the Epsilon BIOS working in the coming days. The release of this depends on how long it will take them to resolve some problems with the application.

If this isn't just a hoax, we're all in for a treat. So I'm hoping it really isn't.

PSPlayerMT

Now we know there has been an AVI player for the PSP for quite a while now (called PSP Media Player, or PMP for short), and it’s worked great. However, you have to encode your videos into a .pmp format, which took time most of us don’t want to spend. Our problem is solved..
Here’s a list of all video types supported

  • AVI
  • MOV
  • MP4
  • OGM
  • MKV
  • NUT
  • ASF
  • WMV

And not only does it play video, it also plays the following audio types:

  • MP3
  • M4A
  • WMA
  • OGG
  • WAV

PSP FLASH PLAYER

FINALLY. What the whole community has been waiting for since the onset of the PSP. Flash support. Our prayers are answered, the first homebrew flash player has been released by PSPHacks.net, through a coding contest they hosted recently. It currently only works on 1.5 firmware PSPs, but work is underway to enable 2.XX support, and fix the tons of bugs which are currently existant in this initial release. Source will also be released soon, so the whole PSP development community can take a wack at making this thing work fast and efficient. Load times are somewhat slow at this point, but with the proper optimizations, there is a good future for this outstanding piece of homebrew. Hopefully this will encourage Sony to move it and release official Flash support.

MPH Game Loader FULL Version 1.0.0 Released!

A few days ago, we reported that MPH had released their new Game Loader Version 1.0.0, which is capable of launching GTA and other 2.0+ requiring games on firmware 1.5.

The initial release was a 'demo' version which only ran for 10 minutes before games would cease to continue. Today, MPH has released the FULL version of Game Loader Version 1.0.0, which will let you play as long as you want.

For those of you who missed out on the news, remember, the only catch is you need to also have an ISO copy of the game in order for the loader to operate. Meaning you must have a retail UMD, and download/rip the ISO, so it is not at this point a direct UMD loader just yet. The legality of obtaining/ripping ISOs for copies of games you own is pretty 'grey' at this point, as an ISO is an ISO, and downloading one is technically illegal, so we will not provide any information as to how to acquire one. But this is still a great job, we have confirmed that it works, and it has been tested by us.
