Campus doesn't advocate violence. So, neither do we. In an effort to maintain the sport as an effort to have fun instead of an effort to replicate militaristic play, we've adopted the following lexicon. Members should adopt use of the following terms and phrases.
Definition and quote suggestions appreciated.
Blaster: A brightly colored, plastic toy usually activated via the dominant hand, which may be supported by the recessive hand if large, and used for the purpose of propelling foam projectiles towards a target.
Foam Projectiles: A slender body made of foam which can be propelled towards a target via a blaster. The cardboard box I hid behind may have once housed an air conditioner, but now it protected me from foam projectiles.
Inner Child: 1) The childlike aspect of a person's psyche, esp. when viewed as an independent entity, or 2) The part of any person's subconscious, which, no matter how small, exists to tell them to propel foam projectiles. One day I listened to my inner child, and it was saying: Let me out, I want to propel foam!
Match: An event in which members propel foam projectiles at each other in organized play. Matches often last one to two hours and may include rounds of capture the flag, team match, and/or dodgeball. Don't forget your ridiculous at the match tomorrow.
Velociraptor: A genus of dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur that existed approximately 75 to 71 million years ago during the later part of the Cretaceous Period, though unconfirmed sightings have occurred within the last few years. Velociraptors have strong grasping hands with claws, powerful hindlimbs, and jaws containing sharp teeth. They should be avoided at all costs. In the event of an encounter, Nerf Club members should use their expert training to attempt to preserve their lives as long as possible. Don't bother locking the door at night, velociraptors will just break in through the window.
