What is the Light Crew?

Theatrical Lighting at Prairie Ridge High School is an exciting and ever changing extra-curricular that provides an opportunity for many students to be actively involved behind the scenes of PR shows. It encourages the positive development of student relationships, and promotes responsibility within a group setting. In the Lighting Department, students will learn to operate motorized lights, hang and aim conventional fixtures, operate moving spotlights, as well as learn to effectively communicate in a dynamic environment. They will also progress and enable a comprehensive understanding of lighting consoles and DMX programming. In turn, the crew allows for many students to assume and engage in active leadership roles or participate and develop a functioning student-led program.

         

Getting Involved

Ask any graduating senior advice for doing well in high school, and you will get one answer: GET INVOLVED! A great way to do that right here at Prairie Ridge is through the Tech Crews. We offer many programs that fully integrate leadership, training, and teamwork into an extra-curricular that is both fun, and looks great on college applications! But more importantly, you will meet TONS of new people, and take away friendships that will last you well beyond high school. Getting involved in technical theater at PR is simple; talking to a department head, or coming to an informational meeting are both great ways to get started! All of us here in the Prairie Ridge Tech Crews look forward to meeting you!
