Betsy Plank/PRSSA Scholarships

Eligible? Candidates must be PRSSA members enrolled in programs of public relations studies, preparing for careers in public relations, and in their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies.

Amount:

           FIRST HONOR $2,000
           SECOND HONOR $1,500 
           THIRD HONOR $750

This unique program also honors the scholarship winners' Faculty and Professional Advisors. Now sponsored by the PRSA Foundation, the program was established by the Champions For PRSSA, an informal group of professionals who have special, ongoing interests in PRSSA, its members and public relations education. PRSSA has named the scholarships for Betsy Plank, who—together with PRSSA “godfather” Jon Riffel—founded the Champions in 1981.

 

Application Process: For the 2009 program, the Nomination Form, supporting letters and candidate's statement must be received by Monday, June 1, 2009.

Multicultural Affairs Scholarship

Eligible? full-time undergraduate student at an accredited four-year colege or university. Junior. At least a 3.0 GPA and a member of PRSSA is optional. Must be students who are of African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American or Pacific Islander ancestry.

Amount: Two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each will be awarded.

The scholarship program was established in 1989 by PRSA's Multicultural Affairs Committee, to assist and recognize young men and women for outstanding academic achievement and commitment to the practice of public relations. The scholarship program is administered by the PRSA foundation.

Application Process: fill out application form, transcript submission, letter of recommendation from a PRSA member or individual associated with public relations and submit a typed, double-spaced essay, no more than three pages on the follow topics. (See Dana or e-mail her @dblicken@mail.usf.edu)

Stephen D. Pisinski Memorial Scholarship

Eligible? Juniors or Seniors only. Students must have at least a 3.3 GPA. Must be members of PRSSA, leadership position is a plus!!

Amount: Each fall, a $1,500 schaolarship is awarded to a qualified PR student chosen be the selection committee. This year the price has been increased to $3,000.

The Stephen D. Pisinski Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The scholarship was developed by Allison & Partners in memory of Steve Pisinski, APR, Fellow PRSA and founder of The Montgomery Group.

Application Process: Resume, transcript submission, essay of 1000 words or less stating career goals, two strong wiring samples and two letters of academic and professional reccomendation.
